I think the whole thing with Anita Hill was a farce, because her story was illogical. If this guy was such a horrible boss, why would she move from one department to another to keep working with him? This is a question her supporters never answered adequately and no one ever pressed her on.

All that said, Clarance Thomas NEVER should have been confirmed, not because of what he did or didn't say to Anita Hill, but because he wasn't the least bit qualified for the job.

He had spent less than two years on the bench, and before that, he was a placeholder at EEOC and the Department of Ed civil rights division. (Agencies the Republicans promised to disband and never did.)

The only reason Bush the Elder nominated him was because he didn't think Dems would oppose a black guy. It was a completely cynical move from a president who was worse than Nixon in that regard.
