76-year-old Canadian says he has been left homeless after struggling with the cost of living — experts say he isn’t alone

I read somewhere that Canadian homelessness is going to double within a few years, Senior Citizens will be the largest growing demographic.

The caste system that has destroyed so many of us. May those who enforced it face judgement and the same hell they unleashed on others.

The cost of living crisis is weighing heavily on many Canadians, and one P.E.I. senior is buckling under the strain.

David Turner, a 76-year-old, told CTV News (1) that he was forced to live in his car for the past two months due to "mounting debts" and unpaid rent. It isn’t the first time Turner has faced this type of devastating financial constraint, either. Early in 2024, Turner relied on emergency shelters when he faced a similar financial crisis.

“The cost of everything is just crazy,” Turner said, adding that, “Seniors are struggling because of the cost of living, the cost of rent, the lack of affordable housing.”

Many direct relatives I have are dirt poor over rent and now Obiden inflation does not reset. Gas came down but car repair off charts too. I have given maybe $10K per year in cash help since ~2012 after I got a job from Obiden 1.0 never ending recession and 2018 good job after Trump.

I know what it feels to have nothing. To teeter on the edge. Was Down to selling Gold crowns at the mall to get $96 to eat.
