This probably explains why I saw so many of the Marketside brand prepared meals marked down for closeout, when I went to Walmart earlier today.

"The listeria outbreak tied to prepared pasta meals has expanded, with the FDA reporting two additional deaths and seven new illnesses.

In total, the outbreak across 18 states has sickened 27 people and caused six deaths and one fetal loss.

The recalled ready-to-eat pasta salads and prepared meals were supplied by Nate's Fine Foods and sold at major grocery chains nationwide, including Trader Joe's, Sprouts Farmers Market, Kroger and Walmart..."

I question how, did they not cook it long enough before the flash froze it or it this a fresh salad? Never heard of this company but yeah, I stay away lettuce as much as possible, for some reason it's just the worst

/----/ Another reason I never eat prepared meals. Mainly because they are loaded with sodium, fat, and sugar, but listeria is a big reason too.

Company Reputation and Legal Background

  • Local restaurant supply networks

Lawsuit History

Previous Legal Challenges
  • 2022 Minor Food Safety Complaint: Small-scale lawsuit involving ingredient mislabeling

Company Vulnerability

  • Limited financial resources
  • Potential existential threat from massive legal claims

The company appears to be a small, regional food processor now facing potentially devastating legal and financial consequences from the Listeria outbreak. 😑

I got you a small gift !

Remember the Tylenol jawn and people were giving bottles of it to thier friends.

I was talking to the counter lady where I go shoping and she told me she can eat any pasta because it gives her headaches from a dye they put in it.

Besides the sick I feel sorry for the Nate's Not So Fine Food stock holders.

“destined”?

Of course it’s a human-made error. Humans literally made the product.

Someone, somewhere in the process fucked up and made a mistake

Probably something with one of the ingredients or an issue with the machinery. The company my sister worked for had a major recall several years ago that took them forever to find the source of. They sterilized (they thought) the plant, changed suppliers and ingredients, and the issue kept coming back in the test batches they were running. Turned out there was a small crack deep inside one of the machines that allowed a bacteria colony to set up on the opposite side of the crack that would randomly migrate through the crack and contaminate the product.

That’s crazy.

But even in that scenario it ultimately boils down to human error at some level.
