Orr is very popular, but not our "favorite sports hero" by any means. We've got a lot of those. I don't need to "search for" his retirement speech. I remember watching it.I would never boo anyones anthem. It's beneath me to do that. Even through all of my struggles I remain stoic and keep my character.
Did you know that their favourite sports hero in that city is a Canadian? Above all the great sports athletes, the one they cherish the most is Bobby Orr. Go search for his retirement speech, they gave him a loud, standing ovation for 10 full minutes, it was incredible.
Orr represents the good in Canadians. A high performer who was humble and classy.
