Somewhere long ago they decided the right was too principled or moral or religious and they did not like being preached to. They liked the left who basically let everyone do whatever they wanted and anything immoral or unsavory was personal choice. So they now stand their ground and defend everything left. And if they want to give out trillions of tax payer dollars we don't have to everyone with their hands out, they will, just to make them look like the good guys, they are glad to put on a show and ruin our nation. Being popular and in power is what motivates them, neither truth nor morality nor the common good.
