Shooting of 21-year-old man in Liverpool sparks murder inquiry

A murder inquiry is under way after a 21-year-old man was shot dead in Liverpool.

The victim, from Manchester, who police have not named, was taken to hospital but pronounced dead a short time after the shooting in the Netherton area of the city, Merseyside police said.

A gang of teenagers were seen chasing a man on a bike moments before the shooting, according to local reports, and an off-duty nurse tried to help the victim.

DI Tony O’Brien of Merseyside police said: “This is a shocking crime which has occurred in a residential area on a light summer’s night and I would appeal again to anyone who may have seen the incident itself, or someone making off on foot or in a vehicle, to please get in touch.

UK is, and always will be, still safer than the US because of its guns laws.

Your arguments have always failed before, so there is no need to respond to them now.

You don't know what you are talking about...violent crime is going through the roof.....gun crime is going up, and there is no reason to think that gun murder is going to rise too, as the British government cuts back on police manpower and resources and ties the hand of their police with the same stupid politically correct policies we have here.

And to your post.....Britain is not safer than the U.S....it is 2x more violent than the U.S. and is the most violent country in all of Europe...but the other countries who are adopting the same policies as Britain are going to catch up pretty soon.

It has a firearm homicide rate that is a fraction of that of the US, you raving loony. Take the mote out of your eye.

No....it shows you don't understand the issue. They banned and confiscated guns....their gun crime rate is going up...not down...it isn't even staying the same, it is going up. The only thing they have going for them is that so far, their criminals are not murdering people with the guns they already have.

Please, explain to us.... if their criminals have guns, what British gun law keeps them from using those guns to murder people...please explain that dynamic.......

And they have a firearm homicide rate that is a fraction of that of the US, you raving loony. Take the mote out of your own eye before pointing out the beam in that of the UK's.

You moan about one person being shot where restrictive gun laws are in place and ignore the multiples of shootings in a place with easy access to firearms. What is it, bipolar or something?

Look, moron...... you cannot explain how British gun laws keep criminals in Britain, with illegal guns from using those guns to commit murder......

Their gun crime rate is up 42% in London, just last year, and their gun crime rate across England and Wales is up 23%......their criminals have guns....no matter what their laws say, and they are using them for crime...they just are not committing murder with them, yet....and that is a big yet as they use them more and more.....

You can't explain how our gun crime rate, and our gun murder rate went down as more Americans own and carry guns.......

You can't explain that..since it completely refutes your argument....as does the growing gun crime rate in Britain...

We went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 17 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2017...guess what happened...

-- gun murder down 49%

--gun crime down 75%

--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.
