Even if a person could pay out of pocket for a transplant they won't get one if they refuse to comply with the treatment plan. It could be something so minor as being a little bit late for appointments. This kid and possibly his parents, have put up with non compliance and behavioral issues for so long that it's normal to them. He shouldn't be penalized because of his defiance to protocols. Then he is going to die. It is very simple. The decision might be a death sentence. People who refuse to comply with treatment die all the time. It's always a death sentence or more likely a suicide sentence. Feel sorry for the family that survives. Not the kid. He's asking for a death sentence.
Some people just like to be defiant. No one is gonna tell them what to do! They die. Usually quickly.
It's hard to really feel sad for the deceased. The family maybe, but not the deceased. At all times they could have made a different decision but wanted to feel the power of being able to disregard those rules and protocols.
Fact is, if someone does not comply, they won't get a transplant. They are poor risks. They are unlikely to take their daily medication. If he cannot keep medical appointments now, he won't later either.
^^^ Shoving a person aside when they can be saved, to me, is another form of murder.
God bless you and the person always!!!

P.S. Once they are saved, then on to step two which would be changing their current mentality status for the better, or do the people who hold the person's life in their hands not think that the person is worth it? If they don't, the Lord will take care of them.
There is no suggestion that he won't do what is required if he gets his new heart. The hospital only assume he won't comply. His heart only started failing a month ago, and they expect him to be squeaky clean, taking his meds already? He's a kid, his life has been turned upside down, give him time to come terms with it.
Sorry. He doesn't have time and no one will indulge his teenage rebelliousness. It is unfortunate that sometimes indulging children makes them into their own worst enemies. Transplant teams are unforgiving. There are too many deserving people out there.
