Yes, Obama did PROMISE to cut the deficit in half...

I stopped listening to him 2 years ago, when it became very apparent that it did not matter what he said because he is going to do something else anyways. He is a master manipulator, and the only way to make the insanity go away is to vote him out, he will not change his agenda one bit. He...in essence, is full of shit.

Unfortunately, voting his lying ass out only means we vote another lying ass in...

Not necessarily. There are people out there that can be trusted, just not any of the current ones interested in the job.

as his 3rd budget has hit the news, I thought I word drop a word on on obfuscations and distractions.

Please, lets not get caught up in the last debate over the 'pledge promise, affirmation kinda want to maybe will' semantical smokescreen that took place over the 8% un-employment number and the 2009 Stimulus package.

Here? He promised, straight away and in plain language....*shrugs*....it is, what it is.

I plucked this directly ( hat tip- jake tapper) from the blog [page] of the White House director of new media.

This is big -- the President today promised that by the end of his first term, he will cut in half the massive federal deficit we've inherited. And we'll do it in a new way: honestly and candidly.

This will not be easy. It will require us to make difficult decisions and face challenges we've long neglected," President Obama said. "But I refuse to leave our children with a debt that they cannot repay -- and that means taking responsibility right now, in this administration, for getting our spending under control."

My comment on all this? This was made AFTER the campaign, he made it on the job so to speak, he doesn't get the 'campaign trial' gimme....

Sure he inherited a trillion $ deficit, BUT, he knowingly back loaded more as his plan, thats HE and his admin.s plan had us out up and over the recession ( which ended in july of 2009).

And here we are again, as HE, Obama, proposes another budget buster plan, dependent on the continued borrowing of 40 cents on every dollar we spend, reinforcing a, to be kind , deeply flawed 'plan' ( imho is not a plan its an ideology).

I wonder what the fact checkers will say? no, I really have not looked, pants on fire? gotta be...right? :eusa_whistle:

This is why the republicans fought him so hard.

they didnt want him to do anything good for this country.

they place party over country at every turn

And Obama and his party have not put party over country for the last 3 years? You must be blinde.

Obama lied.

Bush lied.

Clinton lied.

Bush 1 lied.

Reagan lied.

What is the point of this thread? That politicians lie. OK I agree.

why did the republican vote agaist their OWN bills when Obama said he woudl sign them?
What bills? Can you post a link?

the reps could not do a thing....you and jack lew should get a room;

"But we also need to be honest. You can’t pass a budget in the Senate of the United States without 60 votes and you can’t get 60 votes without bipartisan support. So unless Republicans are willing to work with Democrats in the Senate, Harry Reid is not going to be able to get a budget passed. And I think he was reflecting the reality of that that could be a challenge.”

Jack Lew’s misleading claim about the Senate’s failure to pass a budget resolution - The Washington Post

you only need 50.....hello, think on that a moment, this is the WH cheif of staff....seriously...? unless he was just willfully lying thru his teeth....no cloture is required, ergo the dems could have passed ANYTHING they wished.....

get it now dopey??? you bought it because your masters told you too and you have followers here as well.

I will give ezra klien props, he saw this coming in 2010........

Ezra Klein - Are Democrats setting themselves up for failure in 2011 by not passing a budget?

now they are going to pretend the republicans didnt do this?

Whatever... nobody except fools like you are buying the "Bush did it" defense 3 years intro the Obama presidency. No president since FDR has been re-elected with this high unemployment.

If obama would not insert socialist agendas into a GOP bill they may just vote for it, but until the left stops tampering with good policy the right will not vote for it. There, you have your answer. It's not that the GOP wont vote for their own legislation, it's that they will not vote for their own legislation if the left inserts something into the bill that the right does not approve of.

I don't think anyone claimed otherwise.. only that he has taken a bad situation and made it 5 times worse.

That's not leadership.

Agreed. He is a danger to himself and all those around him. ;) Good points. :)

Reagan promised to balance the budget. He didn't. He won, what? 49 states in 84?

Did you not vote for, or would you not have voted for, Reagan in 84 because he didn't accomplish what he promised?

Well there you go. Corporations are people to. And the stock market is that persons way of generating cash. Therfore, following Rethug logic, the stock market is a person with many legs.
