Harm reduction is about the reducing the harm for the rest of us. So, if this is all that will be done it may not accomplish much. There is a point where these folks want to od. This isn't accidental. The sooner people come to terms with that now the easier this will be to deal with later.

It is in the best interest of elected officials to make illegal mind altering drugs as plentiful and legal and safe as possible.

If not, how are they to get elected?

There is also the issue with the drug cartels. I believe they run US politics the way they run things in Mexico. That is why neither party will secure the border or get serious with these substances that kill about 200 people a day.
