Birthers Say These 4 GOP Candidates May Be Ineligible To Be President

In a column published last week on the conspiracy theory website WND, author Jack Cashill noted that questions had been raised about whether four of the 17 candidates in the GOP field were really "natural born citizens" and therefore eligible to run for President.

Ted Cruz has already dealt with those questions publicly -- the Canadian-born senator from Texas renounced his citizenship with that country last summer in anticipation of a 2016 bid -- but Cashill also listed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) among those who were suspect.

He even mentioned that Jindal's preferring to go by the name Bobby -- inspired by "The Brady Bunch" -- instead of his given name, Piyush, would make for interesting evidence in a court case focused on his eligibility to run for commander-in-chief.

But who, exactly, was suspicious of these candidates? On what grounds could these four politicians' eligibility to be President be challenged? And why was Santorum, whose background as an Italian-American doesn't get mentioned nearly as frequently as Rubio's Cuban heritage or Jindal's Indian heritage, suspect?

TPM called up Cashill to find out...

Go to the TPM link and read the telephone interview....

The birthers are raving so much, some of them are even going after Rick Santorum, who, if you will remember, already ran for President in 2012 and yet, not one single birther of name said anything about him back then...

Discuss: will the birthers devour these four Republicans?

...

Surest way to test their eligibility, ask them how many states are in the USA

Obama is the first who could say 50 on how many states were there when he was born. I think all the republicans would say 50, all the democrats would say 48.

*on edit, Fiornia and trump would say 48.

WND.....always trolling for a story.

WND is trying to whip up Birther emotions so they can skim more bucks from them but I think Birthers will for the most part ignore WND on this.

They only cared when it was Obama- they have no interest about Presidential eligiblity other than as an attack against Obama.

If a Dem lied about his first name, the RWs would throw a fit.
Cruz didn't get around to renouncing his dual citizenship until last year.
Rubio has lied about his family and his money.
Santorum is a known crook, caught in a huge sex and money laundering crime with others who are still in office.

Trump snarked that Jon Stewart's family changed their name but his family did exactly the same thing - Drumpf became Trump.

Its always the same - Repubs are always held to a much lower standard than Dems.

OP asked "will the birthers devour these four Republicans?"

Nope.

The RWs here will avoid this question or desperately ^^^ try to derail the thread.

I think those four will disintegrate on their own.....Rubio and Ted Cruz may last a little longer than the other two.

It has already been established that if you question a candidate's citizenship you are a flaming racist. So, you sir, are a flaming racist.

This is so awesome... The Democrat front-runner is under criminal investigation for multiple crimes and the left is obsessing over names. You couldn't script something this awesome.

Vote for the (Alleged) Crooks! How Rick Perry, Chris Christie, and Scott Walker are Running While Under Investigation

Try finding a Republican who is not corrupt and crooked. But yeah, since they're both anchor babies, if Drumpf gets his way, neither Marco or Pyush will be eligible to run.

Why would you want to dismantle the department of education?

Because it sucks and fails and practices intellectual pedophilia. Our students progressively fall further and further behind every year and that's even with spending more per student than any other nation on the planet. By any and every metric the DoE is a total failure and needs to be reformed -- to death
