Personally I think firing anyone over a bumpersticker is ridiculous but Phil Geddes OWNS his company and can do stupid things like that if he so desires. A school however is a different kettle of fish since a school is owned by the public. I'm at a loss to understand why the school administrator...or the two teachers who lobbied to have the custodian fired...thought they had the right to fire someone over a Pro-Walker bumpersticker. Frankly, it shows how out of touch some of our educators are at the moment...

there was a local sports talk jock who had a show at the beginning of the NCAA tourney this year and one of his questions, since we live in an area with hated rivalries, was "have you ever not done business with a company because you knew the owner was a rival fan?" and "have you ever not hired someone because they were a rival fan?" there were a ton of people who called in and said yes.

but, we could do it your way and mandate that people and/or business do business with other business according to government regulations. kinda like racial hiring quotas for government employees or college enrollment.

First of all I don't feel the need to pass a law every time something happens in the world. That's part of the reason our country is so screwed up...we have legislation instead of common sense.

The problem here lies in the belief of the school administrators that they have the right to permit one side of an issue to have bumper stickers on their cars while prohibiting the other side from having the same privilege. What were these people thinking? We live in a Democracy and that's not how things work. I may not "like" your Obama sticker on your car but I understand your right to have it there.
