What needs to be taken seriously is the fact that the terrorists have successfully realized their goal – the media reports of the threat, the increased security at the mall, and this very thread are all proof of that.

Terrorism isn't only about guns and bombs, it's also about the ability of terrorists to compel us to 'take seriously' their threats to the extent we actually believe an 'attack' will happen, where we allow the terrorists to win by making us undermine our freedom and liberty for the illusion of 'security.'

True, much of it is mental terror. While a lot of it is talk that is designed to scare, they might want us focusing on malls while they prepare to hit the real targets. It's impossible to protect all places all the time.

We remain more reactionary than proactive when it comes to terrorism. Everyone is alert when the threat is believed to be high, but we go right back to being relaxed and that is when they strike.

Allowing known terrorists to be released after being caught by border guards is a horrible idea and there is no logical explanation. I thought terrorists were on top of the list to be deported, but apparently they first let them go and actually expect them to show up in court. We should just deport immediately or at least keep known dangerous people locked up.

We still have borders that are easy to cross and terrorists would be crazy not to take advantage of that.
