Why the Left is in love with AI

If you feel you need to be managed, perhaps you ought to stay in your moms basement.
There's a thousand things in the background of everyone's life that has already been handed off to automation. You probably don't even think about these unless something goes wrong.

Soon people won't have to think at all or even work.

Utopia!!

Bad news champ, automation is not the same as AI.

No it has not. They cant communicate well in situations like with pedestrians who may be crossing a street, or in parking lots with other drivers, and those driverless taxis have been blocking emergency vehicles in some cities where they are used.
I didn't say AI is perfect, just better. You forget how low the bar is to beat human drivers.

Fossil fuels is better in terms of price for our energy demands, and it can be used to grow food as well.

In fact, there is a whole slew of things fossil fuels can do for us, assuming we have the technology to exploit it.

But all of a sudden you see such technology in action as a problem

Funny that.

AI is unquestionably better than humans at the tasks they are properly trained to do. They have no ego and cannot be bought off. There is a valid argument for letting them take over the daunting task of managing large bureaucracies.

Can not be bought off.
Hilarious.

that and it can be used to influence people and go after political enemies eh you modern leftist nazi ?

Humans are a problem. Managing large numbers of them has become a task humans can no longer do effectively. If AI makes the trains run on time let them do that kind of shit.

And thats the liberal/Leftist mindset in a nutshell. All those politicians believe the little citizens all need to be managed through a central government.
In times past it was realized that it was the citizens who could be counted upon. It was the citizens who built the country and who created the government. Of course now with the dumbing down of the population through their education programs and news media, its becoming more fact that people management is needed.
Look what Democrats have done to the city of San Francisco. Billions of dollars thrown at that place and the homeless rule the streets

At the same time, because people can vote they have the voters still thinking they are in control of government.

Fuck

That was exactly what Nazi's were known for.

Sounds like a job for AI, gotta keep those vending machines filled...the homeless need their drugs.

In Switzerland on Friday, the United Nations held the world's first press conference featuring a panel of nine artificial intelligence-enabled humanoid social robots that fielded questions from reporters.

During the AI for Good 2023 global summit conference, the robots stated that they could "lead with a greater level of efficiency and effectiveness" but assured that they would not rebel.

In short, controlled superior intelligence that can also inject propaganda where needed. It's like having a tool like Joe Biden, only, AI won't go on an embarrassing rant about children sitting on his lap stroking his hairy legs at a local pool.

This is our future.
It is not just the left that is in love with AI. Many on the Right and in the center are equally attracted. I can appreciate appreciating the promise of benefit, but (or maybe I should have said But as it's a big ass But) I am totally down with the reality, they can be both too smart and too dumb for our own good. We already know science fiction often becomes science fact and inherit hubris of man doth bite deep at times, and I have been a science fiction reader since being a little kid, cutting my teeth on Azimov in early grade school. Also, not to be forgotten is possible actions of AI due to bad human actors tweaking code with intent. The power of AI is presently unlimited in scope, so equally unlimited in potential danger and damage. It very well might not be as simple as flicking a switch and turning it off and no matter how fast you are, you are not faster than a speeding electron and will be too late, sooner or later. Presently, we have already seen it can lie (or more accurately) create false date or output for human consumption and this is just the infancy of the technology. It can steal (or more accurately) appropriate data to create it's sudo-intellectual output, with one company being sued, even as we speak. There simply are no rules, nor over site at the present time and certainly no Azimov inspired "3 laws", even those did not function as intended at time or control resulting damage.

It seems people on the left are more open to progress and change while you on the right fear it.

Of course it has benefits. That is how it is sold to people.

And of course, there is not stopping it, because there is no stopping people seeking the benefits

But as with other technologies that also have benefits, what price will we pay for them?

Enjoy the AI boom and tech boom

Democrats embrace tech, republicans fight tech

This is why the democrats have better economies with lower deficits, whereas republicans have bad and weak economies with mega debt and deficit.

Tech and infrastructure will power the US economy during Biden's presidency

AI is very much a capitalist thing. It's long been the usual practice of industry to replace drudge workers with automation and nobody cared. Problem with AI is that it can replace people with degrees. Now people are scared.
