The leopard 1 tanks are great for breakthrough mop up operations securing regions . where the heavy tanks break through and the leo 1s sweep behind and secure the region supporting river crossings , and engineering corps.
About Ukrainian Leopard 1:96 from Danmark in city Flensburg96 from Switzerland/Italy in Ring change with Greek30 from private owner in Belgium (now to Rheinmetall) 88 from storage of Rheinmetall= 310 Leo1 soon in Ukraine
The Leo1 is good for mop up and securing operations - no one would want to be in it, on a front-line task. As such Ukraine is getting the wrong tank - since there is presently nothing to mop up. But they can be useful for securing the Western and Eastern flank of e.g. Kharkov.
Presently the Russian army is obviously in chaos - in regards to leadership/tactics, heavy and specialized equipment - it is therefore quite striking (at least to me), that the Russian infantry grunt is able to put up the kind of resistance that is able to withstand the Ukrainian offensive in the past 10 weeks. Imagine if these fellows had a qualified military leadership.
