Why Space Travel ?

Humanity has two choices. Eventually spread off world and evolve as a species or stay on one world with a finite lifespan, fighting over decreasing resources, as a stagnant species in eventual decline.
Exploration and ability to adapt is what makes humankind special.
The OP is free to stay home.

It is a better investment to take care of the world we have

Better get on your private line and tell Elon Musk and Richard Branson they are wasting money and time. Seems private company's may disagree with you.
Again. Arguing against the inevitable.

I only support Tesla's in space

We still need to launch satellites into orbit

That is a practical application. But investing in a space colony on a distant planet is wasteful
If we destroy the planet we live on, we don't deserve to survive as a species

As long as Trump keeps pushing to tear down mountains to get black Coal I am happy.

Stop all Fed luxury spending until balanced budget and debt=zero or 0.5% annual revenue.

No, the majority of mankind understand that our evolution as a species requires moving into space. You see, if you look at the evolution of life, it has been a continual explotation of new environments. And space, as part of the evolutionary ability of the first species to achieve technology on earth is simply a continuation of moving into a new environment for the life that developed on earth.

The Childish Fantasies of Senility

Gazing dumbstruck up at the twinkling void and letting the still-hidden vast resources of the Earth go undeveloped is a sign of a civilization that has lost its way.

FALSE! Nothing requires going into space. It's a senseless, useless waste of money, pushed by spacey freaks, who read too many outer space comic books when they were kids, and never grew out of it.

Is there a doctor in the house ?

Ability to adapt can be done on the planet earth, and us done every year.
You are arguing against the inevitable.
Looking Up So You Can Look Down on Mankind's Practical Achievements

The collapse is only inevitable if we let immature escapist Trekkies point the way forward.

We need to learn how to travel and survive consistently off world so the human race survives the inevitable self-destruction of the Earth by war or resource depletion.
If that happens, the human race doesn't DESERVE to survive.
Well it could also be a asteroid hit, poles flipping, crazy solar flare, gamma ray, etc. We need to have a plan B for where to live. And plan C, D, E, etc.

Space is not a solution
Because it is space

Not months or even years of travel, but thousands of years of travel

Our best solution is to take care of the planet we have

Guess the naysayers and pessimists have it.
Humanity relegated to one crowded world, an enforced utopia of equal income distribution with a global government as the overseer of all resources as the population exceeds 30 billion+.
But the utopian entity will have to ban all sovereign governments, enforce draconian birth polices, forced migration into urbanized areas, ban religion and independent thinking, ration power and food consumption based on need. Sounds like paradise.

My bet is always on those with the sheer optimism and guts to say...
This shit is getting done.

And it will. With or without US involvement. China has its own ambitions for the Moon and Mars.

We are now capable of exploring and colonizing our solar system. There is knowledge and resources out there that we cannot even yet imagine. We can take care of our planet and explore our solar system. Interstellar space is still a few generations away.

Yes, it is getting done. Men like Elon Musk also exist in other nations and cultures. We are lucky that our culture is very good for the growth of someone like Musk, that is making a huge difference in our energy development, transportation, and exploration of our solar system.

So "gimme gimme gimme".

Got it.
Better than waste, waste, waste.

If it makes you feel better, I'd rather see the money go to animal shelters or sick children.
Well there are the satalites that predict your weather, where do you think that satalite radio comes from or how about your GPS. If ya can not see it, I am n ot sure how to help you. I bet you realy like the microwave don't you!

You are arguing against the inevitable.
Not hardly. Plenty of people oppose the space lunacy.
Astronomy Is the Modern Tower of Babel

But only the decadent duopoly has power to make us worship NA$A.
Yep the quest for knowledge is the devil !!!!!! Just think not to long ago the theologians were cutting off heads for calling the world round, yet here we sit in the United States. So much for a sage! I do not think you got the moral of the story of the tower of Babel. The point of knocking down the tower was for m an to go out and be fruitfull not sit in one place. Space exploration is the current go forth and be fruitfull!

"Free energy" technology has been around since the days of Nikola Tesla. Self-generating energy devices that would create a mini-power grid for each home has been suppressed because the energy business (using petroleum) is what runs the fiat currency system in every country with a central bank with USA.INC being the central point. Technology to use every single drop of gasoline with no emmisions whatsoever has been around since the early 60's. There are over 6,000 patents that have been suppressed due to "national security".
