While the Syrian government is slaughtering it's own people? Doesn't the rules that led the US to intervene in Libya also apply here, if not to a greater extent?
I'm just saying if we went into Libya as a humanitarian mission then the situation in Syria is much worse. Anyhow it would be fair to say that we are much worse off from a foreign pokicy standpoint, from the time Obama took office. I can't think of ONE THING he's done right, can you? Hes blundered Egypt, Iran, n Korea, and now of course Syria. We are back before the days Carter was booted out on his ass.
We went into Libya because the guy leading the country authored the deaths of over 150 Americans in Lockerbie, Scotland.
Russia has a major base in Syria with nuclear submarines stationed there. obama is scared so shitless of the Russians he intends to give them our classified defense plans. Then there's Iran who supports Assad and just dares the boy-king to do something about it. Iran is just itching to give him a bloody nose.
Rebels gettin' weapons from Saudi Arabia... Saudi Arabia Arming Free Syrian Army 17 Mar.`12 - Protests in Syria have escalated into what some are calling a buregoning civil war, and the United Nations says "well over" 8,000 people have been killed since the uprising began in March last year. The government blames terrorists and "armed gangs" for the unrest and says more than 2,000 members of its security forces have been killed.
Nah, we didn't go into Libya because of that. If that was the case we could have whacked Ghadaffi way before that. Instead we took him off the terrorist nation list and even praised him and gave him cookies when he dismantled his nuclear program. Remember that was one of Bush's "achievements" he was proud of, that Libya gave up making WMD's on its own without our having to invade. I'm just saying the rules that applied to Libya apply even more to Syria. Except we have a BS artist for president.
Yes foreign policy will be the big wild card that non of the GOP candidates are talking much about yet, mainly because it's a very fluid situation right now. The Arab Spring has been a big disappointment, and Obama has proven to be the biggest blunderer and appeaser in Cheif. But once a GOP candidate becomes the nominee, you can count on him ripping Hussein Obama a few new ones on foreign policy. Bush handed Obama two places we were winning, Iraq and Afganistan, and now we have six countries we are loosing. Our credibility is shot and we have no respect around the world.
Poor little fella is doing the best he can given with what he has to work. Time to face facts: You CANNOT fix stupid.
Tighter Sanctions Sought Against Syria... Syria Conference: Gulf Countries to Fund Rebels April 1, 2012 - An international coalition said Sunday that it will provide funding and communications equipment to Syrian rebels and opposition activists, reflecting a shift toward military options that might oust Syrian President Bashar Assad after a year of failed diplomacy aimed at stopping his crackdown on dissent.
