Why Is Being Rich Bad?

Being rich isn't bad, buying political power, however, is about as bad as it gets.

What a crock of shit.....

If I were rich and donated 5 grand to Romney you would claim I'm trying to gain political power instead of supporting a candidate and that candidates views...

The truth is you progressives hate the rich because they have more than you do. You hate conservatives, republicans and libertarians because they oppose your socialist ideas. They work hard for what they have and you think you have a right to the fruits of their labor because they have more than you do....

It's really that fucking simple - now go ahead and deny that...

Have you ever heard of these things called lobbyists? Simply donating money is just fine, hiring people to grease palms is another thing entirely.

No one ask for all you have just because have it. It's the law of nature that you share your wealth. It's call paying it forward/ giving back or the price you have to pay for getting rich and the up keep of this great country. We are our brother's keeper unless you are a selfish turd. You did not get rich all by your self. You may have planted the seed but many others made it grow. No man is an island.
You don't even want to think about keeping all your earnings because the have nots will take what you have whether you like it or not. So be safe and share a little of it. A hungry man will definitely eat.

And in what universe are lobbyists unique to conservatives or republicans??

Seems you have absolutely no problem with lobbyists pandering to democrats or vice versa..... Funny how Obama is extremely friendly with businesses who use union labor and actually give them Obamacare waivers and additional incentives - and not one fucking word comes out of the DNC's mouth about corporatism - yet these same motherfuckers turn right around and claim republicans are in the pockets of big business...

It's not being rich that is "bad".

It's the method in which you become rich that can be bad. Tax evasion via loop-hole, aggressive/crony business practices (guised as "capitalism").

There are many more way to get rich via taking advantage of the system, people and services than there is via an honest living. It has almost become mandatory.

It should be up to progressive neo-communist bureaucrats to determine how much wealth you are allowed to keep and who will be the beneficiaries of their handouts...............

For the Public Good !!!

lobbying is legal.

donations to political parties are legal.

being rich is hunky dory.

however, the only thing which maintains a middle class is governmental regulation. the natural order of things economically is a few wealthy and the majority not.

what is immoral is taking away all the protections of the middle class which have been so painstakingly put in place... in order to further enrich the few who already are.

money? nothing wrong with having wealth.

See if you can reply without reference to Romney or Obama.

Why is it bad?

it isn't.

your point?

Here we go yet again. Okay, I'll be nice. There is no specific point if that's what you are seeking.

I'm curious to see why some think that being rich is something that is to be treated as an evil.

And if you think the thread is stupid then you just insulted everyone that took the time to reply, not just me.

Bad is a value judgment, for example your threads are very bad examples of trolling without proper bait.

Bad is when greed becomes all consuming; most Americans look forward to retirement and want to be able to live on without too many lifestyle changes. Some Americans, able to live for centuries on the wealth they have accumulated - notice I did not say earned - continue to use any and all means to enhance their wealth. That's bad.

Of course some of the rich are good. Bill and Melinda Gates for example. Even one of the Koch brothers donates to PBS, of course he could do much much much more (and maybe does) but his and his brother's efforts to establish a plutocray in America is bad.

In and of itself it isn't bad. It is bad when it is gained on the back of the average or poor person. It is also bad if it fundamentally changes someone into feeling entitled in an exhorbitant way at the expense of others. And many wealthy people came from the poor or middle classes. I think they shouldn't forget that. I agree with VOLUNTARY distribution of wealth and think the feelings of true altruism are second to none. The good part of being wealthy can shine if people who are wealthy help others, not necessarily with a hand out but with an education in how to be successful and have the tools to use to strive to become better personally and financially.

See more proof that progressives are socialists who actually believe they're entitled to what the other guy made...

Yeah they did earn that money by themselves - that's why its THEIR money and not your money....

What the fuck you think? just because you buy a cheeseburger from Burger King you're entitled to a few cents because you contributed to the company???

So if I'm homeless and have no food or money I can just kick down your door and take whatever the fuck I want??? You know because you're my keeper and all...

So in other words Nick,,you're for plutocracy. Glad you admit it even though plutocracy defiles what our Founding fathers had mind.

Its all just sooooooooooooo unfair.......

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need......." lol

Acts of the Apostles 2, KJV.
[44] And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
[45] And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
ASV
2:44And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 2:45and they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all, according as any man had need.

Paraphrasing the Bible?

Being rich in pocket and heart is good, being rich in pocket alone is the new poor.

(How about that for dumb shit. :D)

Stupid question. Nobody thinks being rich is bad.

The op is a member of our socialist military. He is most certainly not rich. He will never be rich.

I have never, ever claimed that democrats have some kind of monopoly on virtue, they are every bit as self interested and corrupt as any other group of politicians, however, there is a case to be made that the lion's share of lobbyist activity is directed towards protecting the interests of the rich so let's take an honest look at what party seems to protect their interests more even when it runs directly counter to the interests of the people at large.

It's such a troll-like thread that you're the only one that needed to start your reply with an Ad Hominem attack. ...And then you replied to it. :clap2:
