Why are so many Jews Democrats?

I think American Jews wanted to be sure they were safe from oppression in America before they lobbyed for their homeland and the Democrats seemed to offer that at the time. Feeling a bit safer in America, I think they now see the Republicans as the party that will protect Israel and their money. Similar to what Zhuk posted.

That is the mainstay. It applies to blacks also.

What occured was that just prior to the civil rights movements, it was mostly conservatives who discriminated. While the conservative party has mended its ways in regards to that, several things still hold. Jews still cling to the idea of the old conservative party, and as has been pointed out, tradition takes its toll. Plus the MSM and the DNC still like to portray conservatives as racists.

Then there is the factor that real racists and Jew haters, such as WJ, hide under the wings of the conservative/repub party, simply because we do have a few other, totally non related issues in common.

Lastly, most Jews fall into the category of moderate Democrats. Take Lieberman for example. There simply isnt anything that "THEY SEE" that will draw them out of the Dems side. And they think, that if the Dems have control, Israel will still get our assistence, and wont cease to exist.

Funny about the black support of the Dems depending on them not becoming pro Israel, just another example of how the Dems are supported by NOTHING BUT SPLINTER groups, not any one main group. And those splinter groups often come in conflict with each other.

This question has been on my mind now and then.

I think it is farly clear that the best hope for Israel is the United States, and the people in the US who speak in favor of defending Israel are usually Republicans. So why does it seem that *most* Jews are continually voting Democrat? Do those Jews not care about the continued existence of Israel? Or is the right to murder your child more important than the existence of Israel? Any ideas?

Jews were overwhelmingly Democrats/progressives/socialists/communists for one pretty simple reason: they hated white Christians or other self-directing whites. This was the best way to combat them. For years, this was the case. Don't buy any of this bullshit about the "progressive" message of the Old Testament. Man. You read the OT? Ain't nothin' progressive about it!

Today, it still may be the case: support the ACLU, get crosses taken down. OK.

But "neocon" Jews for whom Israel is a priority saw an opportunity with the war-happy Republicans to strike out at Arabs. They knew they couldn't get Democrats to follow along, so they cuddled up to the GOP, infiltrated, and gave it money. Ken Mehlman, Jack Abramoff, anyone? Anyway.

The fact that most Jews are Democrats didn't stand in the way.

Jews as Democrats have achieved the destruction of white Christian America. Jews as Republicans have achieved the destruction of Israel's enemy, Iraq. No matter what party affiliation they claim, it is always for the purpose of advancing their own interest at the expense of everyone else. You know it's true: how many Jewish "Republicans" promote Christian values, abortion restriction, no gay marriage, etc.? How many Jewish "Democrats" take a strong enough stand against the Iraq war to stop it?

Bottom line is, Jews always get what they want. And that usually involves whites paying the price through blood, money, or loss of their own culture. Best for Jews, the overwhelming majority of whites think of Jews in positive terms, or as people for whom support is owed for whatever reason. To top it all off, point any of this out, and everyone at the office or on the chatboard leaps on you for being an "anti-Semite." You're lucky if you can get someone to acknowledge even in private and off the record that Jews just might not be the holy and perfect people they claim, and that, like the rest of us, they might just do some dirty deeds of their own sometimes. Good deal, eh?

Judaism is a religion based on old time heritage...many ethnic groups make up the Jewish religion as do Catholics,Protestant,Buddist etc etc...I find it amusing that they continue to call themselves a race vs a religious group...to get technical if they maitain old lines(Marry only within families from original lines) they would fall into the Middle East category! So they would be bros to the Persian and Arabian lines!

Amazing to me how they in particular don't see the similarities. Jews in Israel seem for the most part to be more conservative, I suppose that comes from living with terrorism for the last 1000 years. Maybe some day the liberals in this country will wise up??

What is a Jew? has been debated from time immemoral.
The best I have read is that you can be a Jew by birth, or by religion. The people who became Jews by religion, in the OT were always differentiated and referred to as "prosletyzed" Jews.
