Why shouldn't they get federal money if it's available to them? Why don't other states like California...Just "make do" with their natural resources and fund everything with that and their own state taxpayers money? You think Alaskan's don't pay federal taxes like everyone else does or something?

I made a huge deal out of it because I was calling Conservatives hypocrites. Alaska gets $1.82 back for every federal tax dollar they put into the system. Plus they get all that money from big oil.

Alaska is 47th in the country in Population with less than 1 million inhabitants. What are they doing with all of this money? If they are so into utilizing their natural resources, why can't they pay for their own halibut research and let states that DON'T have those resources and have a hell of a lot more mouths to feed use that money?

California also has an huge ocean full of fish and seafood. Not to mention many lakes and streams...they can feed their own.

Plus, they have vast amounts of grasslands they don't even utilize...they could grow more crops to feed the hungry.

California also makes billions with the entertainment industry. I know...How about instead of whining you get the Calif governor to just impose a windfall tax on Hollywood...problem solved.

Oh.... and as for leeching off of the government. California recieved over 37 billion dollars in stimulus money. And has received well over 480 billion dollars in earmarks just for forclosures,education,hydro gas stations,retro fitting appliances,transportation and the corp of engineers. That's not even including all of the other projects that have been funded by the federal governments earmarks.

Believe me California soaks every one for every dime they can get already...greedy bastards...

What I find so hypocritical of democrats is that...it's okay if you spend your entire life paying into a system so "they" can benefit and profit. But god forbid...you aren't supposed to benefit or get back a reward in anyway unless they say you can.
