Who said Ronald Reagan was 'a useful idiot for Soviet propaganda'

Libruls still can't come to term with the fact that they don't control the media.

A few clicks and there's Reagan telling Gorby to "tear down this wall"

Reagan is also on tape explaing that he did not trade arms for hostages and then again saying his mind and his heart were in conflict of the naked and ugly truth---he did lie and he did trade arms for hostages.

Reagan liberate Eastern Europe and defeated Soviet Communism, you can still cling to Obama and his Nobel Prize, little Buckeroo

In truth, Reagan was telling the Russians that Germany need not be divided anymore. The Russians built the war partly out of distrust for the West and fear of its influence(the influence part is true!) By addressing that the other Members of the allies are willing to let Germany become independent again, Russian right to German lands were formally challenged. The need to keep Germany divided no longer existed and Moscow stood in the way for progress.

Thus, Gorbachev needed to be addressed before Germany could be united.

Don't forget Republicans.........Reagan was pushing for a 500 ship Navy during his presidency.

And you thought Republicans were for smaller government.....

First--Reagan was nobodies idiot. I msy not agree with his domestic policies, but his Diplomatic abilities and use of politics was exceptional.

Second, that may be true for conservatives, but not for our nation or the world. In fact, why didn't Reagan win the nobel peace prize? (Considering that Obama won one, should not Thatcher, Pope John Paul II, Yeltsin, Gorbachev and all the anti-communist revolutionary leaders of Eastern Europe have a couple on their bookshelves?)

Reagan was not the reason the Berlin wall fell?

and as far as why others win or do not win a Nobel, it is irrelevant to the fact that the Reagan myth is as full of baloney as he was in real life.

No--not just him. But he did much to help transform Eastern Europe from the Soviet Bloc nations to Independent Republics.

The speech--yeah, it was mostly propaganda. It gave the impression that the Russians were behind the division of Germany when in truth we(under FDR) help break it apart.

Good piece of Propaganda that was believed to be true among many Americans before Reagan gave that speech.
Reagan did some things, but /I would never say it amounted to 'much' as you do. He gets credit for being there at the end. As a matter of fact look at the election a year before the wall fell. George Herbert Walker Bush, Reagan's VP distancing himself from Reagan's cold war policies.

Reagan was disliked by the right before they decided to embrace him.

Jesus Christ man, let it go already.

Talk about sour grapes.

You're here whining like a little bitch about a guy whose last term ended over 20 years ago. Jeesh!

Well..........what do you expect from someone with Alzheimer's disease?

I wonder if his presidency would have been different if he would have read the LaGuardia Report which was commissioned by Nixon concerning cannabis.

In there, it showed that cannabis can help slow down Alzheimer's.

Maybe he would have remembered more of what he said during his presidency if he'd had a couple of joints.

Poor Ronnie. i wonder why his team of Hollywood astrologists didn't warn him?

Obama's Nobel is a joke. Even Obama knows that.

So why would you throw that in? WTF does one have to do with the other?

btw, I never voted for Obama.

600 ship Navy.

And he stuck his finger in the Communist eye in Grenada, Nicaragua, Afghanistan and Eastern Europe.

Historic event didn't just so happen while Reagan was in office, they happened because Reagan was in office

hey talk about using youtube::lol:

Well before the Wall came down or Reagan's speech, Frank Zappa (a cultural God in Eastern Europe) was asked by the Soviets, "what can we do to improve our image and get foreign investment?".

Zappa replied, "tear down that wall". An obscure interview of Zappa on the Johnny Carson show explains this. You can Google the video. In East Europe, there are many statues of Frank Zappa...none of Reagan. They know Reagan made his speech when the planning of dismantling the Wall had already begun. Reagan used his actor's timing to jump on the stage to steal credit.

As Gorbachev was reforming the USSR, Reagan was so behind the times with "evil empire" talk, the Europeans dragged Reagan to the Soviet border and let Reagan walk accross the border to prove Soviet intention. Reagan's misguided conservative handlers caused the hardline communists to conspire a coup and hold Gorbachev hostage...until Yeltsin squashed the revolt and banned the communists from government.

Gorbachev, Yeltsin, Pope John Paul, Polish Solidarity, Frank Zappa, and the Truman Doctrin of standing up to the communists in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan ended the Cold War.

No amount of revising history by conservatives will change the facts. Reagan had almost nothing to do with ending the Cold War...if anything, Reagan extended it another 5 years and almost caused the hardline Communists to regain control.

OK fine. You can malign Reagan if it makes you feel better.

But you best just keep your dirty little paws off Jesus motherfucker!

"Tear down the wall" was first coined by the judge at the end of Pink Floyd's The Wall

Just out of curiosity, how did he stick his finger in the Communist eye in Afghanistan again?

Oh yeah........he financed the Taliban and provided them with weapons and RPG's, setting up the events that led to 9/11 and the Afghanistan war.

Try again.

"Tear down this wall" is misunderstood?

Dia anyone ever answer the questions?

Howard Phillips of the Conservative Caucus branded Reagan "a useful idiot for Soviet propaganda."

and

Conservative columnist George Will pounded away at Reagan for having changed. "Four years ago, many people considered Reagan a keeper of the Cold War flame," he wrote in 1988. "Time flies. For conservatives, Ronald Reagan's foreign policy has produced much surprise, but little delight." Even Reagan's vice president, George H.W. Bush -- when he ran for president in 1988 -- suggested that Reagan had gone too far in his diplomacy with the Soviet leader.

Reagan's own staff repeatedly removed that line from his speech, fearing it was too aggressive in tone.

Reagan simply reinserted it each time.

It was but another great moment from our last great American president.

Yes, Ronald Reagan was a great American president...

Sure. Who exactly was Reagan speaking to? Was he really asking the East German government or the Soviet leader to tear down the wall? Was that a new concept or was he just rephrasing what others leaders from many countries had said before?

Why was the right so upset with Reagan for being nice to the Soviet leader? Like Reagan's talk about deficits and smaller government, his speach in Berlin was nothing but window dressing: nothing. The right is rewriting history with teh ass-istance of a lazy media.

Uhh-ohh!! You have done it now!!

Now all the Right wing drones are going to jump on you and exclaim that "Reagan killed communisim with a speech" and other nonsense BS that does not acknowledge all the work that went on behind the scenes nor the situations at the time!!

All I can say is prepare yourself!! I feel sorry for you.
Ronald Reagan was not the primary reason why the wall fell. He was a late contributor (and some would say convert to liberal policies) to a long effort to expose the Soviets to western influences.

People can question your usefulness, but there's not a doubt about your idiocy
