When the 2nd Amendment was written....

Individual gun rights were not discussed when the 2nd Amendment was being drafted or debated. That's what's important. It's an amendment that guarantees that people have the protection of a state militia. That's it. Obviously, you need guns to that end, but with regard to the 2nd Amendment, keeping and bearing arms was in the context of militia service .

Wrong.....The Right of the People, not state militias is protected no matter how you want to lie about it

Read the writings of the people who wrote the constitution. The idea of a collective right was never considered.

Why would I do that when I can read what was said when the 2nd Amendment was actually being discussed and debated in the 1st Congress?

The first part of the 2nd was to protect the rights of States to have their own militias/armed forces.

The 2nd part of the 2nd was about protecting the citizen's right to keep and bear arms.

One amendment, two concepts.

the first part is "what we need",,
the second part is "why we need it",,
the third part is "how we will get it",,

its self full filling,,

You are pushing lies to push gun control

Nope, it's all true. That's one reason why I think Dems are also wrong when they argue we should repeal the 2nd Amendment. There's no need to; we just need to pack the court with people who actually know the Constitution and then, like the conservatives do, keep filing suits to overturn these decisions.

People who would deny citizens the right to own firearms for self protection tend to be criminal minds with committing crimes as their intention. They don't want citizens to protect themselves or interfere with the criminal actions.

The 2nd Amendment was never meant to protect individual gun ownership; it was meant to ensure that each state had a functional militia - for a variety of purposes, ranging from civil defense in cases of insurrections, riots, or attacks from Native tribes, to being called up by Congress and the President to repel foreign invasion.
Utter nonsense, particularly given this was an egalitarian country at the founding. Farmers also hunted, settlers were expected to protect themselves, that requires the private ownership of firearms. Your silly argument fails to mention hoe the Founders governed. Signatories of the Constitution owned firearms with no relation to any militia. Stop lying.

Not lying; I've read the 2nd Amendment drafting and debates - you have not.

lololol

So what the people meant when they wrote the Constitution doesn't matter. It only matters what we decide decades or centuries later. I thought conservatives were all about originalism.
The arguments against what actually was put in the Constitution don't matter. Those arguments failed then and they fail now.
