There where prayer in school many many years ago, it was the norm.
While being gay is not illegal, it is against Christian beliefs, and this country was founded on Judeo christian principles and is still about 80% a christian nation. At a certain point it is better to die on one's feet than to live on one's knees. For some of us, that's almost exactly how we look at it.

My GUESS is that it's going to start over some city or state deciding to try and take guns away from the citizenry despite the Constitutional protections against just that.

Yes, we should. Any piece of hardware that the police or US Military uses should be available to any member of the US citizenry who has the money to purchase it and the facilities/capabilities to properly secure it.
