Koch-backed political network built to shield donors raised 400 million in 2012 elections - The Washington Post

2012:

About four dozen donors and families have given at least $1 million to super PACs this election cycle, with three-quarters of them giving to the GOP.

Combined, these four dozen donors have provided $130 million of the $308 million super PACs have raised this cycle (more than 40 percent) — a reflection of how much these outside groups are funded by extremely wealthy donors.

And that goes double on the GOP side, where nearly half of the $228 million raised by super PACs has come from about three dozen million-dollar donors.

Million-dollar donors have contributed $111 million out of $218 million raised by super PACs this election cycle, while million-dollar Democratic donors have contributed less than one-fourth, $19 million out of $80 million raised.

The Republican advantage in 2012 is even more visible in a Forbes list of the top 40 billionaire backers on each side -- including more than just those who donated to outside spending groups, such as direct campaign donations or those who fundraise for a candidate. Of those 40, 29 supported conservative groups and candidates, and just 11 supported liberals.

Republicans tend to donate to and use non-disclosing groups more than Democrats do, said Center for Responsive Politics spokeswoman Viveca Novak. Conservative political nonprofits spent almost five times as much as liberal ones in 2012, according to Open Secrets data. So far in 2014, they have spent almost twice as much.

Apple Taxes: Company Avoids Paying Bllions By Using Offshore Companies, U.S. Senate Finds

he world's most valuable company, Apple Inc., employs a group of affiliate companies located in Ireland to avoid paying billions of dollars in U.S. income taxes, a Senate investigation has found — and its CEO will be questioned Tuesday.

Apple is holding overseas some $102 billion of its $145 billion in cash, and an Irish subsidiary that earned $22 billion in 2011 paid only $10 million in taxes, according to the report issued Monday by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

It occurred to me earlier that I may have been a bit presumptuous before when I stated that conservatives are of two camps only: the rich and crooked or the poor and dumb. The best way to learn is to communicate, and so I decided to ask this.

What exactly is your personal reason for thinking that your political perspective is acceptable? Are you just old and set in the value system of a different time? Were you deprived of an adequate, high quality education? Are you apathetic to human suffering? Or do you honestly believe that right wing concepts and structures like white supremacy, sexism and the Patriarchy, patriotism/nationalism, economic slavery, and capitalism are okay? Maybe it's bigotry against marginalized groups like women and the poor? Or simple sadism? What is it, exactly, that drives you to your beliefs?
It is presumptuous of you. Liberals have hurt me (by extension, good honest hard working people). Obama has turned the health care and immigration systems on it's ear, to help the worst and the least helpful and has become a hobble around our ankles. I lost my job a couple of years ago because my former employer couldn't handle the added health care cost Obama care tacked on. I have also seen areas lost to Hispanic illegals and the filth, crime and squalor that illegal aliens bring, let alone this phony biculturalism, Spanish crap. It's not helping anyone and it really does hurt innocent people. But of course, we don't want to read stuff like THIS. I am not saying this to be contradictory, I am just stating facts. And opining same....

SO... You're asking why I recognize, respect, defend and adhere to the natural principles that define America?

Well, that's because to deny reality is deceitful, to project deceit as truth is fraudulence and to promote deceit through fraudulent means is evil and evil leads only to chaos, calamity and catastrophe and frankly, chaos, calamity and catastrophe are all very difficult thing to overcome.

Take for instance the recent catastrophic failure of the socialist policy to strip the financial markets of sound, actuarial lending principle and to supplant the Left's perverse notions of fairness.

The adult looks at that and sees that no good can come from it, while children and fools look at it and see the inevitable results and blame those results on those who opposed it.

I guess the short answer is that as an adult, I just have little tolerance for children and fools. You people just tend to piss me off.

Examining the big lie: How the facts of the economic crisis stack up

•The boom and bust was global. Proponents of the Big Lie ignore the worldwide nature of the housing boom and bust.

Nonbank mortgage underwriting exploded from 2001 to 2007, along with the private label securitization market, which eclipsed Fannie and Freddie during the boom.

Private lenders not subject to congressional regulations collapsed lending standards

DUBYA REGULATOR PROBLEM IN THE US, AS HE CHEERED ON THE BANKSTERS

FACTS on Dubya s great recession US Message Board - Political Discussion Forum

It is clear to anyone who has studied the financial crisis of 2008 that the private sector’s drive for short-term profit was behind it. More than 84 percent of the sub-prime mortgages in 2006 were issued by private lending. These private firms made nearly 83 percent of the subprime loans to low- and moderate-income borrowers that year. Out of the top 25 subprime lenders in 2006, only one was subject to the usual mortgage laws and regulations. The nonbank underwriters made more than 12 million subprime mortgages with a value of nearly $2 trillion. The lenders who made these were exempt from federal regulations.

"The Republican Party has totally abdicated its job in our democracy, which is to act as the guardian of fiscal discipline and responsibility," says David Stockman, who served as budget director under Reagan. "They're on an anti-tax jihad – one that benefits the prosperous classes."

Among the top 100 donors in the Open Secrets list, 33 were billionaires, and of those, 14 gave primarily to liberal groups while 19 gave to conservative groups.

In addition, the top 100 donors of 2012 gave 41 percent of all the money collected by outside spending groups, and of their donations, 71 percent went to conservative groups.

...Republicans tend to donate to and use non-disclosing groups more than Democrats do, said Center for Responsive Politics spokeswoman Viveca Novak. Conservative political nonprofits spent almost five times as much as liberal ones in 2012, according to Open Secrets data. So far in 2014, they have spent almost twice as much.

Thanks, I know the vast majority of right wingers don't live in reality, but I enjoy humiliating them even when it doesn't enter their tiny little minds. Entertainment, lol

Dystopia, hopelessness, murder, slavery, starvation, democide, infanticide, and existence in a constant state of terror is why I'm NOT a leftist. People on the left excuse all these things and pretend they're not an intimate part of all left-wing ideologies, especially Marxism.

And the right stokes the fear of all those things as a tactic to oppose any and all efforts by any other than their selected few. "THE SKY IS FALLING" sums up the right wing attitude on everything. Sad, fearful little people.
