What Is Wrong With America ?

Two words:

"I'm Entitled!"

You could argue that's three words, but you get the picture.

Some people ARE entitled.
Examples of these people and how they are so entitled?

1. I'll use myself as an example. I'm 67 years old, a native-born AMERICAN citizen, who has worked and paid taxes in this country for 50 years, and I now receive Social Security.

2. I'm an Army veteran with a service-connected disability, and I get a VA pension + free medical care from the VA.

3. For this one I'll use YOU as an example. Let's say you get in a car accident, you're paralyzed from the neck down. Your private insurance company drops you like a hot potato, but you get Social Security Disabilty (or Obamacare)

What is wrong with America?

Too many whiny pessimists who constantly look for what is wrong instead of showing some balls and offering solutions.

And YOUR solutions would be..........?

Good for you. My question, too. g5000 is up to the task, so maybe he will answer in a civil and articulate way since you have challenged him.

Balls and offering solutions doesn't work if you are over the age of 50 and looking for a job in this country, even if you have a body of 20+ years experience. In fact, that works against you. It's totally fucked.

Older people may be the # 1 most discriminated against group in America. Sad but true. And are they helped by affirmative action ?

47% of homeless males in the United States are Vietnam veterans, thousands of whom are still suffering from undiagnosed effects of agent orange.
Proof?
It's called "reading". Here, try it:
America’s homeless veterans have served in World War II, the Korean War, Cold War, Vietnam War, Grenada, Panama, Lebanon, Persian Gulf War, Afghanistan and Iraq (OEF/OIF), and the military’s anti-drug cultivation efforts in South America. Nearly half of homeless veterans served during the Vietnam era. Two-thirds served our country for at least three years, and one-third were stationed in a war zone.
National Coalition for Homeless Veterans

By the VA’s own admission, 47% of today’s homeless Veterans are from the Vietnam War era. Most of them are now in their 60’s and 70’s and many are in frail and declining health.
Government?s Endless War Against Vietnam Veterans | Veterans Today

Almost half of all homeless veterans in America fought in Vietnam, but there are as many as 20,000 vets who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan and become homeless in the past five years, including women veterans with children. This number is increasing.
Our Homeless Veterans | National Memorial Day Concert | PBS

THEY ARE ENTITLED.
To what, why, and how?
To life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness because they fought in pointless wars so you could sit on your fat ass, drink beer, watch football, and fire off your M14 like you're a tough guy. How are we supposed to help them? By all of us paying our taxes which goes into a collective which helps each and every one of them when they come home and are too sick or too demented or too feeble to care for themselves.

Or are you going to argue that American veterans should be left to die on the streets?

You are actually asking WHY a war veteran with service-connected physical injuries should be entitled to a$$istance ? I'm not quite sure if a question that ludicrous even deserves the dignity of a response. :cuckoo:

Please be brief. I will briefly state that there probably are 100 things (or more) wrong with America, but I will state just one for now >>

America is too much run by rich people. Members of Congress, the President and Vice-President, and members of the Supreme Court are generally all rich people. What do they know about middle class, lower middle class, and poor people's lives ? How can they make decisions about things they have no experience with, or have long forgotten from years past ? When have these people ever been unemployed, and out looking for a job, with a wide variety of things being used against them ? (credit reports, smear talk from former employers often untrue, etc). The last time I applied for a job I was told I would never get hired because employers require RECENT employment in that job occupation (within last 2 years). There's probably a long list of ways people can be denied a job, that shouldn't exist, and don't make sense.

What is wrong with America? Nothing an election won't cure.

Actually is it just the opposite, it is nothing an election can cure.

People lined up in droves to vote for Obama and the democrats to replace "W" and the GOP in Congress after 8 years of their poo. Then after just 2 years of Obama and the democrats people lined up in droves to vote for the GOP.

People have no where to turn since both parties do pretty much the same things, namely, drive up deficits, ignore illegal immigration, run wars abroad, and pass massive entitlements.

For me, the situation is that the Federal government is far too powerful. Progressives at the turn of the century amended the Constitution to allow the Federal income tax to enrich Congress and they created the Fed in order to simply print money that they can not raise with taxation. This is money the steal from us via inflation.

Now Congress simply prints money out their arse and gives it to the poor, middle class, rich, and countries abroad. Now that every man, woman, and child on the planet gets a cut the Federal government has sway over everyone on the planet. States are no longer sovereign as they must do the bidding of the Federal government in order to get Federal funding.

It is what the Founders feared the most. In fact, many did not sign the Constitution because they feared this very thing. Luckily, there is a legal means to address the situation. Under Article V of the Constitution states are allowed to amend the Constitution and completely bypass the Federal government. All that is needed are 2/3 of the states to agree to amend the Constitution and "We the people" begin to impose our will on Congress for a change. The Founders put it there for a reason, and now is the time to use it for the first time in US history.

So how does a balanced budget amendment and term limits sound to everyone? According to polls, 75% of Americans desire such amendments but only 5% approve of Congress. We are about 5 states shy of the 2/3 needed. So get busy electing state legislatures who support this if you desire real change. Otherwise, you will continue licking up your own vomit every election cycle.

Why do people from Texas and Arizona hate Mexicans so much? They live in a city called El Paso and then tell brown people to learn English. No one thinks that's just slightly odd? Arizona is a Spanish interpretation derived from an Aztec word. When the entire state has a non-English name, isn't it just slightly stupid to think that diversity is bad?

Does anyone in Los Angeles or San Diego want to tell Mexicans to learn English? Or how about Milwaukee? Or Ohio? Or all of the other cities and states with names from the indigenous languages on this continent? Those damn Native Americans who crossed the border illegally need to learn English if they're going to live in white Christian America, right?

Only if they want to prosper you ignorant fool. How many jobs do you think require spanish speakers or native american sperakers? You want them fo fail and be dependent I guess.

In today's America, illegals seemingly have more representation than our veterans. I know of many veterans who have been turned down for medical treatment, but hear very little about illegals getting turned down for anything.

The sad truth is that politicians don't need the vote of our veterans. Instead, they look at demographics and see the future. If they want to win elections then they must start representing illegals instead.

Way off.

America's biggest problem, in my view, is that we've become too "me-centric" and stopped caring about the common good.

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated, the collective will prosper. So says the candyass. LMAO

What? Some of your words are English but that statement doesn't make any sense. If you want to stress the importance of English then you actually have to use proper English. People who learn both English and Spanish have a much better chance of success in both the US and Mexico.

Also, the US military sent secret messages in Navajo during World War II that were indecipherable to Japan. That's just one other way in which America has succeeded because of diversity. Oh, and slavery. White people were either too rich or too stupid or too lazy to do their own work, so they bought and whipped black people to do it all for them. Without black people, those rich white people would have starved and died.

Democracy is what's wrong with America. Republicanism has left the building.

Now that is just ignorant.

Collectivists are the ones who hate democracy. It used to be that states held the majority of power. This was before Congress snatched the purse strings at the turn of the 20th century and robbed states the ability to appoint people to the Senate.

So what do we have today instead? Today we have a Congressional body that pretty much runs everything, but only has a 5% approval rating. However, they keep getting elected anyway. To top it off, Congress has delegated much of their power to the Executive branch and their myriads of departments and armies of unelected bureaucrats. Now regulations, which are just as good as laws, are passed by people who never face being elected or kicked out of office. Now these laws completely bypass Congress altogether. To make matters worse, since Congress now has so much power, they have greater power over all 50 states that they were not suppose to have. This is problematic because idiots like Nancy Pelosi, who could only get elected in San Fran, is someone who have a great deal over the entire nation now but only a hand full of people can vote her in or out.

Collectivism is the antithesis of democracy. They seek to centralize power to the point that votes are diluted due to the vast increased numbers being represented. Then those who claim to represent them, like the President, now decide things like how your child is educated and what doctor you see. Now only does the President not have the time it takes to oversee such minute details of our lives, he does not even live in my own state and is inaccessible. And as I have said, he has an army of unelected officials making decisions for me. For the sake of argument, if the President had the time to run our lives who thinks he has the wisdom to do so?

Don't get me wrong, I hate the GOP. They are collectivists as well, but to ignore the DNC is just plain daft.

Deflection and strawmen, I doubt that more than .5% of jobs require bi-lingual skills. A multilingual person is blessed, a multilingual nation is cursed. You can doubt it, but you'd be wrong.

Populism is democracy. Conformity is democracy. Interdependence is democracy.

Republicanism is the antithesis of democracy.

We Tried that - remember ??? That's how we got got this tin-pot Kenyan born socialist puppet . The Democratic controlled Media destroyed his predecessor , and are still working hard to destroy and besmurch any right wing potentiates.

If the Democrats succeed in befuddling the Public again - it's time for a Revolution.

Although IMO they will lose the next Pres. election - sit back for 4 - 8 years and let a Republican take the Blame for the coming disaster they've created.

But this outsider thinks that one of the things 'wrong with America' is that so few people bother to vote. You have the lowest turnout of any developed democracy. Why is that?

Lots of good things about the US. But one really bad thing is the funding of the lifestyle that Americans think they deserve by massive borrowing from foreigners. The trillions owed to China, Japan and many other countries will catch up with the US some day soon.

That your president was born in Kenya is doubtful; that he is of Kenyan descent is certain.

Imo ancestry is more important than place of birth. (Maybe I say this because my ancestors are British, though my place of birth is France).

People have stopped trying to think. To reason. To logically process information before acting, speaking and voting.

More a liberal condition than nationally universal.
