The gulf coast, where most of the people live near refineries and chemical plants, doesn't enjoy the fresh air like you do in West Texas.

I grew up on the Gulf Coast and the industrial smell is a price you pay for jobs for the asking, prosperity and upward mobility.
What do you have without the chemical plants, refinerys, paper mills, industrialization, ship channel be careful what you wish for you might get it. Some folks make a career of looking a gift horse in the mouth.

You are so ridiculous it hurts. During the depression Houston was the place to go if you wanted a job. Houston is not really a nice place to live 100+ degree temps, 100%+ humidity unbelievable mosquitoes, cockroaches you can saddle and ride. The area is flat as a flitter, it was originally a swamp, there are snakes and gators galore, traffic that rivals Japan. It has two things that have taken it from a country backwater to the 4th largest city in the country, jobs and a low cost of living. The piece de resistance is hurricanes. Dallas/Ft Worth rinse and repeat and add tornadoes. San Antonio rinse and repeat. The secret to Texas success is jobs messy, messy jobs and a low cost of living. Which would you rather be homeless in California? Rent and tax poor in New York? Hopeless in Illinois? And the beat goes on.
Mr. Cruz has fought the progressives tooth and nail. Personally I think we have far too many laws, too much regulation in this country and I appreciate Mr. Cruz stand against the superfluous idiocy that is far too much of what passes for legislation.
