HSAs, what a moron, who votes for these losers? The last state we want to be like is Texas. Sessions is so
stupid.

I don't think government should be interfering in health care, or health insurance, at all - but what have you got against HSAs?

Well really when you are old enough to get Medicare or become disabled I guess you will think differently unless your one of these independently wealthy.

Um, Texas has one of the largest economies in the United States. If Texas was their own country, they'd be the 12th best economy in the world, even ahead of Australia and South Korea. Texas has the 7th lowest tax rate in the nation at around 8% per taxpayer and is one of 7 states to not have income tax on both the state and local level, and also has a return of $0.94 per $1.00 in federal tax given back to them (8th in nation).

But what more can we expect from the dumbest poster on this fricken board, who just happens to be on the far left.

Let me add:
"Healthcare is a growing industry in the state of Texas. The Texas Medical Center, located in southwest Houston, is the largest medical center in the world.[41][42] It is home to The University of Texas Health Science Center which trains medical students and residents and includes The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, a global leader of cancer research and treatment.[43] The medical complex also hosts a private medical college, The Baylor College of Medicine.[44]

The University of Texas medical system[45] has additional branches in Dallas, San Antonio, Tyler, and Galveston. The South Texas Medical Center in San Antonio with nearly 27,000 employees[46] has a $14.3 Billion economic impact on the state of Texas.[47] In addition to these facilities, the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Texas A&M Health Science Center,[citation needed], and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and El Paso provide the state with a total of nine centers of medical research."

So why does Texas have highest uninsured rate in the country? 27%. That includes lots of kids and elderly, because Texas refused to expand medicaid even though they would receive a subsidy that would more than pay for it. The State of Texas has great medical facilities, but the state hates poor people, and makes damn sure they can't afford to go to those facilities..

Because Obamacare was "forced" on them they decided to take it out on their own citizens and keep them from getting health care... sounds like something a petulant, orange-faced, man-child would do.

So was Medicare and SS and that worked fine, but many complained of socialism when it started. It needs to be mandated, because at any time one can get ill and or have an accident. Time to pay for your own insurance, and if you need help there are subsidies.

I am not so sure, Texas is no longer a donor state. States that receive the most from the federal gov are those states which are GOP run and decrease taxes and social programs in their states. Also these states have more poor , uninsured, and a greater class divide.
Which States Are Givers and Which Are Takers?

I would say every state's politicians care more for their party than their people, even in NY where Senator Schumer put on fake tears and pretended to feel sorry for refugees during Trump's temporary halt on imported people from other countries.

So I point out how Texas has a great economy compared to pretty much every other state in the U.S, and you bring up just health insurance, only one part of my point. It's clear that the people down there know what they're doing or else they'd have a shitty economy like my home state, liberal NY which is a disaster of too many laws, high taxes, and no jobs.

Maybe people down there are just against "socialized" anything like the ACA? I understand the ACA isn't completely socialized but it has a socialized idea behind it (fines, paying for other people's preventative care, and subsidies). Texas is very much a "right hand" state.

I point out the income inequality, and how Texas really is not a donor state. Yes Texas the 2nd most populous state should have the highest income, since it has many billionaires and oil giants, and CA is the 5th or 6 largest income compared to other countries. CA is a donor state and so are the states that have the state income tax. Texas is not the worst in that aspect though, being your are the 2nd most populous with the highest amount of jobs you should be pretty much independent of the Fed. gov and you are not. In my state MI the GOP wants to do away with state income tax, which is going to raise taxes on everyday goods, soda, beer, sales, gas, and who is going to make out, the wealthiest, not the average income people. That is what is wrong with the GOP states.

Republicans seem to care much less about income inequality
More than half (55%) of Republicans said the economic system is fair to most people, but majorities of Democrats (75%) and independents (63%) said it favors the wealthy. And 61% of Democrats and 50% of independents said the gap was a very big problem, versus only 28% of Republicans. Four-in-ten Republicans termed the gap either a small problem (22%) or not a problem at all (18%).

U.S. income inequality, on rise for decades, is now highest since 1928

The only way to bring the cost of health insurance down is to mandate everyone has insurance , even the young and healthy who one day will be old and ailing. You can't have only the ill and high risk paying into the heath insurances. I am very sorry (not really) that the top income earners have to pay a .09 % extra tax but really its worth it to them in the long run, because it cost more in taxes to pay for the uninsured. Also there is the fact that many more people are freelancers, independent contractors and now the GOP eased restrictions on companies having to offer co share health insurance, so with the ACA one can carry their insurance with them, not be tied to a jobs, be independent, and pay according to income.

My reply wasn't towards you so I don't see how your reply is relevant to what I was saying.

You sit here and say everyone should be forced to buy expensive insurance. Sure, let's pay for insurance that costs more than a car payment. You'll never be able to force people to buy insurance... They just won't pay the bill every month, and what are they gonna do? Have me pay the IRS when the penalty becomes so high it wipes out my tax return? Don't think so. It's a lose/lose for insurance companies... I'm not paying for expensive, overpriced insurance, with expensive, overpriced deductibles, and coverage that isn't a high enough percentage, and you can't force me to.

I'd like to see your delusional proof that taxes will only increase 0.9% to pay for universal healthcare.

Take a couple of steps back. Squint your eyes. Now consider that most of us seem accept, as a matter of "fact", that the average person can't afford health care. What does that tell us? It would seem that either health care prices are artificially inflated, or we expect more health care than we can actually afford. Or, mostly likely, some combination of the two.

Seems to me like healthcare costs are artificially inflated. Why does a 3M stethoscope cost $168? Why does a heart monitor cost $1,600? It seems like the cost of the equipment might be partly to blame.
