We used to just laugh at him, but resilient stupidity paid off.

Lawyer heads to N.Y. Supreme Court to argue chimpanzees deserve rights

When Steve Wise first started out as an animal rights lawyer, people used to bark at him when he entered a courtroom.

For more than 25 years, Wise has been arguing that animals who have cognitive complexities similar to humans should be legally endowed with basic rights of autonomy.

Now when he enters a courtroom, no one is barking.

Of course he should be under the escort of mental health professionals, but alas he is still being taken seriously enough that millions of public dollars have been wasted for this insipid bed wetter to bring suit on behalf of animals and their "persoanhood".

Just like every other moonbat scheme to fleece easy money out of the public treasury, this assclown got rich instead of being defrocked of his credentials.

Animals DO NOT HAVE RIGHTS.

They have recipes.

I am all for monkeys having rights, but first they have to articulate in open court why they deserve rights. Not with computers hooked up to them, but telling us verbally why.

I think all animals deserve to have rights, with certain exceptions.

Any animal that causes human disease does not -- rats and mice -- the do not.

I think the monkey would probably do better in open court articulating than you miketx would.

The monkey is at least smart.

And the monkey is probably not homo.

Animals have acquired many rights over the years, under the law, most of which few people would disagree with...

...the right to humane treatment, for example. Even something like hunting seasons convey rights to the animals that are hunted, if you think about it.

It's all a matter of how far you go.

SNL last night. A boxer wore a computer hat to "translate" his thoughts and come to find out .... he was a conservative.

Years ago we had a Chinese exchange student living in the house next door. Everyday he would read the daily newspaper in order to help him learn the english language better. One day he came to my house with his newspaper and pointed to a news article, and asked me if this was true or a joke?

The article the said that a local man had received a 2 month jail sentence for abusing a dog. When I told him yes it was true. That in America a person can go to prison for animal abuse. He looked stunned and in disbelief. I'll never forget that look on his face. ...

SNL is not reality to most people.

Very few conservatives would ever go on SNL, they are not funny and havent been for years.

Animals should have some rights surely. Anyone who has seen a documentary about animal cruelty when processing our food for example has considered changing their eating habits, or been shocked and angry. It's why I try and find legitimate Halal or Kosher food sources even though I practice neither religion (though I admit I do "borrow" some of the positive aspects of all religions).

That old saying that people are only as good as they treat the worst in society is also reflective in the way in which we treat animals. Obviously, it's a massive stretch to assume they deserve the same rights as human, but basic humane treatment and the intent and desire to better their plight, is a noble one. Just don't go off of the deep end...

Neither are church meetings, yet conservatives show up there to cry with the sinners..

Well said.

The problem is these bed wetters have gone off the deep end and they're still not finished.

In some cases animals have more rights than people, and I personally know ranchers who's property right were undermined by the feds in favor of some migratory birds.

It's not enough for these bed wetters that we regulate how animals are treated in agriculture and other sorts of commercial and even private pet ownership.
