    op/ed by slate

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3449870/

    We Told You So, continued:

What we said before the war, in no particular order

    1. The invasion of Iraq will cause, not prevent, terrorism.

We Told You So, I: “The U.S.-led invasion of Iraq has accelerated the spread of Osama bin Laden's anti-Americanism among once local Islamic militant movements, increasing danger to the United States as the al Qaeda network is becoming less able to mount attacks, according to senior intelligence officials at the CIA and State Department."

    2. The Bush administration was not to be trusted when it warned of the WMD threat.

    3. Going in without the U.N. is worse than not going in at all.
4.They were asleep at the switch pre-9/11 and have been trying to cover this up ever since.

5.And they manipulated 9/11 as a pretext for a long-planned invasion of Iraq.

6.Any occupation by a foreign power, particularly one as incompetently planned as this one, will likely create more enemies than friends and put the U.S. in a situation similar at times to Vietnam, and at other times, similar to Israel’s occupation of Lebanon; both were disasters.

    7. An invasion of Iraq will draw resources and attention away from the genuine perpetrators of the attack on us, and allow them to regroup for further attacks.

8.Bonus: Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” will increase anti-Semitism worldwide.

Well, I'm about as likely to enjoy Slate's op/ed's as you are to enjoy Pat Buchanan's. However, I did have a question about this one:

So what Slate is saying (and what I assume many, if not most liberals agree with) is that if the US occupies a country, then the US becomes more hated by countires worldwide.
Does this mean that if the UN occupied Iraq, that the UN would become more hated worldwide? And if so, when would the UN ever have a mandate to do anything?

I actually DO enjoy Pats also. I don't care for Coulters op/eds ;)

I think he was referring to ANY country, not just the US.

The thing is: libs want the U.N. to do plenty, cuz they know it will be done according to the lefty, anti-american way. They're only against revolutions of freedom, they love revolutions of socialist statedom. A global socialist governing body (the un) gives them wood.

The Slate list is absolutely BRILLIANT!.....well, except for the brilliant part.

So, by Slate's logic we should never have gone into Germany to end WW II.

We never should have gone into Afghanistan & taken out the Taliban.

In other words, don't hit back at those who attack you, for you might make them even angrier than when they tried to destroy you the FIRST time.

This is liberalism at its best. This is all they have to offer. Actually, this is one of their only substantive arguments, though very twisted & grossly naive.

Basically, all they can do is make up conspiracy theories and call Bush & Republicans names, thus showing how intellectually bankrupt they have become.

Seriously, I'm just waiting- what with Teddy "The Killer" Kennedy's latest tirade as proof - for the day I see a debate between a conservative & a liberal where, upon the Republican making an astute, logical point, the liberal retorts with, "Oh, YEAH! Well.....well.......YOUR MAMA!"
    ROTFLMFAO

So sad, isn't it? If liberals, in all of their pathetic politically correct cowardice, had their way we would just disband our military & hand the keys to the White House over to UBL.......because we don't want to hurt his feelings, harm his self-esteem, or, worse, make him mad.

    Dear Liberals,

I am being serious when I say that you guys need to have the DNC set up suicide hotlines for you guys on the night of November 2nd. I only tell you this out of love & concern, ya know?

No, actually, it's just that I'm so damn good I should be WRITING op-ed pieces for The Wall Street Journal.

Also, since you liberals hate President Bush, Republicans, & America so much, I just thought I'd be generous and throw a little back at ya, brother.

Your comments about "The Passion of Christ" are so off base it is pitiful. Since the film came out there has not been a single event of anti-semitism directly attributed to any person, or group that has seen the movie. You who make these kind of accusations are using it as an excuse not to see the film for fear of the impact that it may have upon you. Even if you have seen the film you use the anti-semitism fears to avoid the central question of "What will you do with Christ?" now that you have seen an accurate portrayal of how crucifixtions took place under the Romans.

Next, your short comment about Anne Coulter is expected since she is not afraid to accurately depict Democrats for what they really are....SOCIALISTS. Liberal is not an accurate description any longer, since John Kennedy, due to the socialist agenda D's have promoted since LBJ's Great Society. It is also evident that the Democrats, and their candidates, including John Kerry, have thrown their lot with the euro-socialists, much to the detriment of the United States of America!
