Almost 9 out of 10 pounds of fentanyl are smuggled in by citizens, not immigrants

Beliefs to the contrary are the result of purposeful misinformation. I suspect because Repubs want to demonize immigrants while refusing to engage in policy reform discussion because they have effectively wrapped the immigration crisis around the necks of Dems. All the while bearing responsibility unaccounted for due to their intransigence on entering in to a debate on compromise reform legislation.

This is true of all of the wedge issues Republicans use. They completely misrepresent the problem and the causes of the problem, offer no solutions and blame Democrats.

They don't want solutions because immigration is an effective and reliable vote getting issues. Republicans don't really want to solve problems at all.

Canada should take in all the illegals....agreed?

Illegals are illegal. Doesn't matter

Send them back
You have perfectly incapsulated the debate strategy of many conservatives. Deflect, deny, ignore, duck and cover.

According to the data from 2020 to 2023, for all drugs, nearly 8 out of 10 pounds (78 percent) were seized at ports of entry. Looking at only fentanyl seizures, it’s even more, almost 9 out of 10 pounds (88 percent) were seized at ports of entry. Drugs overwhelmingly come through the ports of entry. Migrants don’t carry them in during their desert crossings.

Dem reform policy has consistently focused on ports of entry as a point of emphasis in combating drug trafficking while Repubs seem intent on building an ineffectual wall.

I'm not deflecting, they're here illegally...send them back

Chomp on that

Exactly. As I have pointed out a few times, reform policy actually passed in the Senate in 2013 on a bipartisan basis. Then John Boehner let the bill die in the House, refusing to bring it to the floor for a vote. Why? Because it contained a path to citizenship for qualified applicants.

Conservatives have bastardized the news landscape to the point to where they enjoy their own sets of facts. They are not true (for the most part) but that doesn’t stop them from believing it.

My big question is why the powers-that-be on this board continues to allow it.

Any OP that runs counter to these three truths should be moved to the basement.
  • Covid vaccines are not poison. They have saved hundreds of millions of lives.
  • The 2020 election was not stolen. It has been investigated multiple times. Trump Lost.
  • There is no deep state. Bureaucrats of all political stripes work hard to protect their jobs. Forgive them if they aren’t thinking about the grand wishes of the founding fathers; they were hired by Department X to do a job.
I guess having all three in play helps mouse-clicks.

What is it about the vast distinction between legal and illegal immigration that has you so perplexed and confused?

Yes.

But both parties are murderous criminal gangs.
