Alison Collins, the Vice President of the San Francisco Board of Education, has declared meritocracy to be racist even in the selection of students at advanced or gifted programs. As we have previously discussed, this has been a building campaign in academia as educators and others denounce selection based on academic performance through testing. At issue in San Francisco is Lowell High School where top students were selected through testing and grades. Most cities have such gifted programs or institutions, though we have discussed calls for the elimination of all gifted and talented programs in cities like New York. Lowell had a majority of white and Asian students and only two percent of its student body were African-Americans. Collins and other board members want to abolish the merit-based selection in favor of a blind lottery system

Definition of meritocracy

: a system, organization, or society in which people are chosen and moved into positions of success, power, and influence on the basis of their demonstrated abilities and merit

This is a Prog admitting that she thinks blacks aren't as good as other students.

Poor kids can be just as smart as white kids!

Ban merit, support enslaving another generation of the poor by telling them they are inferior.

The only way Marxists can push their Socialist agenda is the NOT have people achieve greatness. When you look at the lower 30% of the population, 65% of those poor are white, while only 12% are black, the rest brown or other. So where is the racism in achievement? There isnt one, but we are meant to think so, because in the inner cities where Progs are in charge, their failed policies and in bed with teacher unions is what is causing such black ignorance, as we see by most of the prog posters on this board. Bust up the teachers unions, let all children excel in education, but then those kids would see how corrupt the Dumbocrats really are.

Calling the meteor.

By the way, the shit stains that ran the prison would not give merit raises. Everybody got a raise when they gave raises. There was NO incentive to excel. The first raise I got there after a year was 27 cents and one new boot who had been there only a few months got a 3 cent raise. I kid you not. She just walked out.

Are they doing away with scholarships and other money grant awards that are given out to students because they merit such an award?

Sounds reasonable to me since most of those awards went to the rich or the jocks (who are generally jocks because they're generally the child of "somebody important") when I attend the awards dinner of the graduating class.

I probably don't have to tell you that that isn't a good place to work. Private prison for profit? amirite?

I never knew qualification was racist. Basically this asshole has admitted that Blacks CANNOT compete in an arena based on SKILL, EDUCATION and TALENT where the BEST MAN WINS. So, as madness goes, we will promote unqualified people to positions they do not merit at all in order to not be "racist."

What's wrong with profit?

Just another in a long list of dumb ideas from Democrats.

They want to get rid of gifted programs because it shows a clear racial disparity in intellectual capacity. Best to bury the ugly truth than confront it.

The top student in my older son's Catholic School graduated with a 4.6 GPA, all honors and had his choice of any college he wanted with full tuition paid....Oh by the way, the kid was black. His parents were Republican voters also....Can you imagine that?
