Cops found the body of David Maxwell in his Staten Island home on Friday after it lay undiscovered for 11 days — with his neighbors thinking he had fled before the storm.

The 66-year-old lived alone with his cat — which also died — in the modest yellow, two-family house on Mapleton Avenue in Midland Beach. The home now stands in a flooded wasteland of trash, ruined furniture, mold and mildew.

“It’s so horrible,” said neighbor Dorothy Matthews, 71. “He was alone in the world except for his cat and his partner in the nursing home.”

Katrina was a heinous and unexpected natural disaster that killed 1,000 people. The paper came out and tried to make 1,000 deaths the fault of Bush when it wasn't his fault. He did all he could to get people evacuated and people from his home state took tens of thousands of Katrina's victims into their homes until they could get resettled. Many of them stayed in Texas. They were happy to have a job when they lost everything they had and so did their employers due to a natural disaster.

When you join forces with people who blatantly turn a national disaster into a human fault, don't be surprised when the people you angered throw it back in your lap.

It wasn't right when your media blamed Bush, and it's not right to blame Obama, either.
