Even if it were in the interests of the U.S. to issue a blank check to Israel, doing it publicly at this moment is not the thing to do. Having the summit meeting cancelled is a diplomatic setback of major proportions, and is the result of impulsive rather than reasoned action. In short, things are not going as they should for America's position in the world. Taken all together, what with other conflicts, the House of Representatives, the economy, divisiveness and natural disasters, government action seems very poorly managed.
