Right, but we never set boots on the ground in Libya, nor are we planning on doing so in Syria. So comparing it to conflicts such as Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Gulf War, Lebanon, or even Somalia is a bit off.

If popular sayings are what you're looking for though:

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

It's time we pulled back.

We are not and cannot be the police force for the entire planet.

Does the fact that we can conduct war from a distance make it less evil?

Not yet.

John Kerry, just thinking out loud: I can?t rule out boots on the ground if Syria implodes « Hot Air

Then there was the great War, "the war to end all wars", at least, until they renamed it World War I.

warfare is warfare. whether we launch a thousand missiles from hundreds of miles away or put boots on the ground, both are warfare. to claim otherwise is ignorant.

We already have the CIA there and the option to have more boots on the ground is being secured.
