"The apocalypse never happened" as some predicted...

When the country of Portugal decriminalized ALL illegal drugs eight years ago.

The country did NOT become a haven for drug use.

Drug abuse & drug crime actually DRASTICALLY DECREASED.

We're not Portugal, if they jumped off a bridge would you follow them down?

Only in your dreams, cops get to many toys out of the war on drugs to give it up.

You mean all the dealers aren't going to get steady jobs and volunteer at Meals on Wheels ?

Well, they wouldn't be perpetrating drive-by shootings over which neighborhoods have the best floating crap games.

This would be a good thing.

If you honestly believe that all of the criminals who are now engaged in the drug trade would suddenly become law abiding citizens if drugs were made legal, well then, you just aren't very smart.

You libertine liberal commie pinkos! You want to ruin America!

Next thing you know they'll be saying cigarettes should be legal and then EVERYONE is going to smoke a pack a day. Goddammit. Don't they understand that the GOVERNMENTS GOTTA PROTECT PEOPLE FROM THEMSELVES?! Can't they realize that the only reason people don't do drugs is because they're illegal!? Goddammit. Arghh!!! Grrrrrhhgghhhhh...... uhh....

They may have no choice.

What if your "industry" dried up and blew away tomorrow?...Would you find something else to do, or just continue doing what you were doing for shits-n-grins?

The point is they will find something else ILLEGAL to do. they won't go straight. So that part of your hope is bogus.

That isn't what was claimed. Why do you constantly put words into others' mouths? Is it because you cannot discuss what is actually stated? Legalizing drugs would remove a huge criminal element and that was the point. Pretty obvious.

Do you think drug traffickers accustom making big money in an illegal trade would just go straight? or would they just find another high paying illegal activity to engage in?
