I remember the video game controversies of the 2000s.
Little did Ronald Molten knew a video game developer would release something truly revolutionary a few years after his idealistic protest. Something that would get gamers excited for humanity's future.
Mass Effect 1 was a huge success. It took players to amazing new worlds and introduced them to amazing aliens. It introduced them to a world full of cool characters and spaceships.
It also put the game players in difficult situations and gave them the choice to make hard moral decisions that would affect what the galaxy thought of humanity.
If gamers chose to save the Council(intergalactic United Nations or NATO) they send the message that humanity valued intergalactic cooperation.
The third game evoked a massive outcry because of how the ending was handled.
Retake Mass Effect 3 protest claims victory after BioWare vows to address controversial ending
After 3 successful games Bioware tried to restart anew and try to reclaim the magic of Mass Effect 1 and 2 but their effort was ultimately in vain.
Casey Hudson says Mass Effect: Andromeda failure has 'refocused' BioWare | PC Gamer
Conservatives blamed the game's failure on ugly female characters and liberals blamed the glitches, poor writing, and animations. In reality it was the game's troubled development cycle that doomed the game.
Tragic story of how an acclaimed video game serious was destroyed.
