Veterans Affairs Dept. Bill Signed By President Obama

As a veteran that is enrolled in the VHA system and recipient of benefits from the VBA side of the house, this bill is not going to even touch the deep-rooted culture in mid and upper management that has grown like a cancer for decades.

What the bill has done is open the door for privatization of the VA to a much greater extent than that which already existing. That will only injury vets while the guv'ment slides away from their CONTRACTURAL OBLIGATIONS to veterans of the wars the suits gets us into by using contractors not directly responsible to the vets or The People.

Just one man's opinion, but an opinion based on experience going back a good while.

I guess Congress is actually doing something.
And About Time don't you think!

About time you lame assed commie piece of crap? I've been waiting over 150 days for my first appointment. Get your messiah's ass out of Martha's Vineyard and tell him to make me an appointment.

An appointment to see your PCP or a specialist? What RO? When did you talk to the Patient Advocate at the facility? Is the facility a VAMC or a CBOC?

You do realize you are your own best advocate dealing with the VA, Right?

I was approved for disability on March 14. The booklet they sent me said call this number for your first appointment. It's the facility in Fayetteville, NC. (Ft, Bragg) I called. They told me YOU do not schedule an appointment. WE schedule your appointment and it could take up to 180 days. That's the last I heard from them.

Well, that would be your Veterans Benefits Handbook provided by the Veteran's Health Administration (VHA). That book is customized for you from the information the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) took from your C-file after your claim was adjudicated in your favor. The VHA wouldn't make an appointment for you. How could they if you think about it?

Are you even enrolled with the VHA and in possession of your VA card? Once enrolled, go to the facility from which you would like to receive your primary VA healthcare; A VA medical center (VMAC) or Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) and arrange to set up medical services from a VA Doc who will be your primary care physician (PCP). If the facility folks at the front start to give you the same crap as you described, CALMLY ask to see the Patient Advocate immediately if they will not assist you. You don't have to take their shit, but don't get confrontational at all. Smile and be just as pleasant as can be.

I had a situation at a Phoenix area CBOC like that ~2 months ago as a visiting vet needing some lab work for my private PCP here in Washington. The asshole got set down and his superior took over and got it all taken care of in about 3 minutes after I asked to speak to a Patient advocate. I was calm, had a smile on my face and in possession of a cane I was ready to shove up the jerk's ass. He had to be USAR! :D

REMEMBER, you are your own best advocate. Hope this helps some. Thank You for your service Brother!

I do have my VA card and that's another thing that pissed me off. The handbook said go to your local office and they will take your picture for your card. So I made the 5 minute drive to the local office and they said we don't have the equipment. So I made the hour drive to Fayettenam for a 2 minute visit to have my photo taken. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. One more question. They just opened a clinic in Goldsboro by Seymour-Johnson AFB, which is only a half hour drive. When I was processing at Ft. Bragg, they told me they could assign me there. Should my next visit be there or should go back to Ft. Bragg?

The House isn't the problem. They keep passing bills. Reid is the obstructionist in chief to the point that he's angered his own Democrat members in the Senate and could very well make several vulnerable in the mid terms.

OH of course the House isn't the problem. It's not as though the VAST MAJORITY of bills the House sends to the Senate have one or more poison pills in the cobbled up POS's and Bonher & Co. ignore most of the legislation from the Senate is it? And they've been so very, very productive too haven't they.

gotta work fast to catch Obama when he's not golfing.
You mean gotta work fast to catch Boehner when he's not crying.

Lol, the party that produced the pajama boy, is going to criticize a man for crying. Liberals are mentally retarded.

Yeah..

What was "retarded" was the shape REPUBLICANS left the country at the end of the Bush administration.

And Boehner had to cry to help fix what they broke.

Good, you're enrolled! Go to that CBOC with your card in hand and tell them you would like to have your care established there. If there is room, and there should be if it just opened, there should be no problem, especially with the new hires that will be coming into the VHA.

The VA's gotten really shitty about travel pay for those with 50% or greater SC'ed disabilities making routine visits along with all the others seeing specialists, etc, so make it as easy on yourself as possible. I'm fortunate that I live only 5 miles from my CBOC here and when we move to our home in the Phoenix area to live full time, I'll be about the same distance away. I don't bother with travel vouchers.

Hope this helps. Best of Luck to You!

Typical DC solution. Throw money at the problem. Since he signed it, he's off the hook, cheap and easy.

This is the same twerp who stated that something to the effect that he wanted the VA to serve as a good example for the ACA.
