Cuban refugees made a huge addition to economic growth in the 60s why aren't we repeating that success with Venezuela now?

No they didnt. Thats absurd.Cuban refugees made a huge addition to economic growth in the 60s...
Tell us how many cubans came over at that time who created this "huge economic boon" for a nation of 300,000,000 people.Sorry son I was living in FL when Castro took over Cuba. Doctors/Pharmacists and similar educated people were a higher percentage of the initial refugee population than in the US population. Then LBJ, Nixon and Carter went with assisted immigration.

We should be welcoming the hard working Venezuelans who are fleeing communism.
And the Canadians in the same boat as long as they increase US employment. We should be welcoming the hard working Venezuelans who are fleeing communism.
I got an idea, you go down to Venezuela, a Socialist Utopian Paradise, and welcome all those hard working people there..Just leave your passport at the border when you leave. We should be welcoming the hard working Venezuelans who are fleeing communism.
I would rather have the oil contracts! The commies are not trying to get out of their socialist paradise just the honest and hard working.
The oil may not be light sweet like we prefer but for drilling and export it works fine. Think of the leverage over Cuba.I would rather have the oil contracts! The commies are not trying to get out of their socialist paradise just the honest and hard working.
Please explain. Last I heard their crude was lowest grade and their refineries are falling apart.
When you go to your stock broker ask about the breakeven point for crude from national and international sources. It will shock you. Iraq and some of the other ME countries can turn a profit in the mid teens per BBL. The US is shipping LNG at the equivalent of high teens in BBL equivalent. Bolivia could power the entire world but can't get a pipeline deal because all of its neighbors are drilling too. Shorting oil might be profitable but going long is insanely dangerousThe oil may not be light sweet like we prefer but for drilling and export it works fine.
