We all know the ruinous state of Venezuela currently. It is a blood bath with people eating out of garbage cans. And we all know what led to this, a socialist regime hell bent on "equality".

So what exactly happened? I've heard all kinds of stories from people about this from Left wingers. I've heard that it was really the US who caused the regime to fail to Venezuela not embracing the right kind of socialism, etc.

However, my main critique about such answers is that leading up to the Venezuela debacle there does not seem to be one word of concern or dissent about Venezuela from the Left. In fact, it is just the opposite, nothing but praise was given to the socialist regime.

Bernie Sanders And Other Liberals Once Praised Venezuela. Where Are They Now - American Patriot Daily

Why then does the Left continue to listen to those who are obviously the blind leading the blind?

Um, socialism doesn't work because of human nature.

Corrupt socialism really doesn't work.

A corrupt socialist regime under all kinds of embargoes and international pressure is going to have a near impossible time keeping things working?

Time to get back to arguing about Social Security contribution caps vs corporate welfare in America.
