...I'm watching Chile vs US
US population 300 million
Chile 18 million
avg female height US- 5' 3 ''......Chile 5' 1 ''
you should expect the US to win....
....now when a country with a much smaller population beats one with a greater population, then that is impressive

......the US looks worse than high schoolers ---2 kicks close to the goal kicked WAY over the top of the crossbar ...this is what kids do !

What has height got to do with it ?

Chileans are too poor to do anything else than kick around a goat's head. So soccer is in their blood.

The US Women's team, as far as I can tell, has an inconsistent passing game. There were two opportunities in the first half that I thought would have led to a shot on goal, but the pass was errant. There were four such errant passes in the second half. There were about a dozen on defense and about the same number on upfield drives that were stalled because of that.

As for goals, everyone should be praising the Chilean goal keep who made 6 outstanding saves. However, the USA does look good and their first test I think will be next Thursday when they go against Sweden.

Regardless, they're in the 16 and the match play should start getting better after today.

think about it:
advantage headballs [ and they scored with a header ]
more power on kicks
more power throw ins
goalie advantage
stronger fighting for possession
etc etc etc

Height is a factor in some instances but it is one of many. In some positions it is an asset such as goalkeeper and centre half but not so much in others.Speed, passing and ball control will always beat height.

you're assuming the smaller person has more speed and better skills

That rarely happens. You dont see many shot putters or high jumpers winning a sprint.

look at the height of the 100m winners in this link
Anthropometric Measurements of 100m Olympic Champions
Most sprinters are taller than average, but they're not giants. A typical world-class male sprinter is 1.83m tall and 75-80kg.

Big spread, but I get what you are saying.

China and India should win every match by your inference. You know very little about sports, apparently.

you, also, fkd up
you know very little about everything--especially English
.....you obviously did not graduate from 4th grade because you can't comprehend what you read--read it again:
....I said I'm not impressed --NOT that China, etc should win ....I KNOW the US men's team did not even qualify
..do start reading more slowly perhaps and you might understand
