The Sudanese government has facilitated the flow of South Sudan oil exports. It has embarked on settling border disputes and formed joint force to secure the buffer zone. This breakthrough coupled with Sudan's non intervention in South Sudan's late conflict was recognised by the American administration, but with no change in its policies towards Sudan.

When the conflict erupted in South Sudan, Juba found no true friend as Sudan. President Al Bashir was first President in the region who flew to Juba to dampen down the tension between the warring parties. Sudan has also backed IGAD organisation in its mediation to bring the disputing parties to negotiations to end the internal differences peacefully.

Sudan has established distinguished ties with Chad in the different fields. The two neighbouring countries have established joint force to safeguard the borders. The formation of the joint patrol has resulted in unprecedented border security and stability.

Regarding the conflict in Central African Republic, Sudan has managed to contain the crisis and prevent the transfer of the dispute to Darfur. As for Eritrea and Ethiopia, Sudan has maintained unique ties and established road networks to encourage the movement of the people and commercial exchange.

Moreover, Sudan and Libya have agreed in principle to form a joint force to restore stability and ban gun running across the joint borders.

Sudan has stood at equal distance from the crisis in Egypt and accepted Egypt's initiative to form joint force to secure the joint borders. The two countries have inked military cooperation agreement and agreed to resolve pending issues.

Internally, the Sudanese government has announced national dialogue. The government has urged all the political opposition parties to involve in comprehensive dialogue and to debate President Al Bashir's reform document which emphasised the importance of peace and dialogue as a framework to resolve differences.

The internal and regional developments affirms Sudan's unceasing efforts for internal and regional stability. No one can deny these achievements and openness or accept the American administration's insistence on listing Sudan as terrorist country.

Washington's dealing with Sudan remains suspicious and surprising although Sudan has developed good ties with all the neighbouring countries.

Imagine that Sudan has granted US envoy, Donald Booth entry visa and warmly welcomed him in compliance with the repeated calls by US charges d' affaires, does he (Booth) embark on normalising the Sudanese-US relations?

It's difficult to answer this question since Washington treats Khartoum unfairly compared with Juba.

The matter is more crucial that the pending issues. There is new development in the regional landscape.juba now is plunged into internal conflict which Sudan has nothing to do with.

The restoration of security and peace to the newborn state which is created by US is priority. The failure of the state means the failure of US alone. US is responsible for arriving at political settlement between the warring parties let alone the lack of the very infra structure.

Instead of thinking about meeting with the Sudanese officials, Booth has to devote his time and energy to end the conflict in South Sudan, the American creation. The superpower has to revise its policies, but unfortunately, he will do nothing. Washington is used to changing the goal posts, whenever Sudan comes closer or achieves great things.
