US has placed no Amb. in Ankara

If you make "local politics" for Congressional elections pleasing Lobbies, it is clear, that this kind of relationship is not healthy and you should keep your Ambassadors with Turks sending the rest of Americans also back.

Maybe I should start a civil society initiative on Facebook called "5 Million Turks occupy Incirlik before year end".
Maybe we won't reach 5 Million, but we will crack 1 Million mark. I bet.

While there is no ambassador, I have no doubt there is still a US Embassy and an extremely competent set of staffers willing to handle all complaints the Turkish government has.

Additionally, considering it's the 21st Century, isn't the role of the ambassador a little redundant now? If the Turkish President wants to talk to Obama, he can just power up Skype.

Also, Armenian lobby has blocked US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, another Turkic country.

Since July 2009 there is no US Ambassador in Azerbaijan

What's the matter? Hasn't Turkey bribed congress enough to get who it wants appointed yet.

uhm thats not really how its done, the pres. uses state career employees to deliver messages and discuss topics, ambassadors ARE window dressing but they are important status symbols, we should have one there.

Have you ever been introduced to the concept of hyperbole?

Anyhow, this is a non-issue. Unless you can prove that it is somehow interfering with relations, a slight delay in the presence of an ambassador is hardly noteworthy.

Relations between states are not solely based on developments explainable with scientific concepts. A big portion of it is prestige, playing for the own audience and sending signs to third parties.

The major problems in US-Turkish relations is US congress.
With Administration we do not have neccasarily a problem.
It's the US Congress continously playing morale compass, voicing out Lobby interests and poisoning continuation of relations.

The U.S. Congress making angry noises and passing resolutions on and about the Armenian Genocide is one thing. However, the State Department is most definitely within the realm of the Executive (not Legislative) Branch of the U.S. Federal Government. In essence, they are completely different issues.

Unless we're somehow going beyond what the OP stated, the absence of an ambassador, what the Legislative Branch does is really of no matter since they cannot directly effect appointments made by President Obama within the State Department.

+ making noise to put Arms embargo on Turkey
+ making noise to expell Turkey from NATO
+ blocking appointments of Ambassador to Turkey

All in the name of local politics and pleasing Israelian and Armenian Lobby groups.

As I said... It's all irrelevant since Congress doesn't actually appoint the ambassador.

Turkish FM in reply to rumours of US congress arms embargo

“We are not overlooking the issues voiced by the U.S., but are not exaggerating them either. Our alliance policy towards U.S. did not change, but the world did. Turkey’s role in the world and what it can do have changed. We should set-up a balance suitable to the situation.”

Province Americans betting their chance in Congress elections through Lobby financing make threats against Turkey.
Now tell me, is this kind of relationship worthy to continue?

Well, it could be fortuitous that we just now have about 100,000 combat troops idling with nowhere to go. What a coincidence.

Yes, what a coincidence. I'll make sure I guerilla at least 2 Johnnies by myself.

You are only bitching now because they stopped bribing Congress with you over the Armenian Genocide issue and are starting to switch sides and support Armenians in the short term. Everyone knows that at some point the Israeli lobby will turncoat again and support the Turkish denial campaign, albeit less strongly because of the flotilla. :eusa_eh:

Oh and the Turkish foreign ministry is just a troll for denying the Armenian Genocide alongside its trade agreements. It's amusing how it sets up rallies and trolls university's to claim Greeks, Assyrians, Kurds, Armenians and so forth killed 3 million Turks all across America and how Turk's conveniently appear at all the right moments with the right lines and clean perfect signs. :eusa_shhh:
