Whatever happened to good, strong work ethic? We owe it to ourselves to improve our own self esteem, to reach higher goals. We owe it to ourselves to improve our own life. To envy and want someone else's wealth to make us happy or equalize our standing is folly - it's not going to do a damn thing because the "wanting" never quit wanting.
America, overall, has been the most generous nation on earth - Americans stand up and give to the best of our ability to help those in need. I can't afford to give large sums to various causes or charities - but $1 for a pink Susan Komen grocery bag, $1 at the grocery checkout line for something for the troops, $1 at Arby's for Alzheimer's for a coupon book that I will likely never use, donating some nonperishable food to food drives - it all adds up.
Save all the change in your pockets at the end of the day and plop it in a jar. I have a bad habit of dumping change in the bottom of my purse - one time my purse got so heavy I just dumped the whole thing and came up with about $17 in change. It all adds up.
Envy and sloth are two of the seven deadly sins.
