"UNITED NATIONS (AP) _ A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.

Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ″eco- refugees,′ ′ threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP.

He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control."

"COULD be"... These are the weasel words that screw with what the actual science says.. A few zealot scientists give cover to the media and political leadership to MISREPRESENT the actual RANGE of estimates that good science always produces...

They take the HIGHEST value of the worst scenario and pass that to the press or Congress or to scare the shit out of 5th graders... When in REALITY, the actual science estimates of the MAGNITUDE of this problem have been consistently revised DOWNWARD over the last 30 years since this scary news story broke..
