Russia was not humiliated over its invasion.
Mr Macron said it was crucial President Vladimir Putin had a way out of what he called a "fundamental error".
But Dmytro Kuleba said allies should "better focus on how to put Russia in its place" as it "humiliates itself".
Mr Macron has repeatedly spoken to Mr Putin by phone in an effort to broker a ceasefire and negotiations.
The French attempts to maintain a dialogue with the Kremlin leader contrast with the US and UK positions.
Foreign minister Kuleba said in a tweet that "calls to avoid humiliation of Russia can only humiliate France and every other country that would call for it".

Let Putin officially have Crimea, and the part of Donbas that they already had before the war, and was totally destroyed anyway. But Russia leaves everywhere else in Ukraine.

The US took over the Ukraine illegally in 2014, and the Ukraine has been constantly committing acts of war, like stealing Russian oil from Russian pipelines, murdering ethnic Russians, and trying to put NATO nukes on Russia's border.
The whole government in Kyiv needs to be arrested and a whole new government elected for real.
Russia not only had absolutely no choice except to invade, but also will be forced to resort to nukes if we keep giving the Ukraine so many javelin and stinger missiles.

1. Prove the US took over Ukraine in 2014. That's just stupid.
2. Prove Ukraine has been constantly committing "acts of war". IF the Ukes stole some oil, that is NOT an "act of war".
3. Zelensky was elected with about 90% of the votes, duh.
4. Russia made the wrong choice to invade. It was a "land grab" nothing more. NATO will not let Putin succeed.
5. If Russia uses nukes, I'm sure Ukraine will retaliate with some of the nukes they hid away. Or the US could give them some of their nukes back.

The French haven't made a decent show of spine (backbone) in a very long time - and this latest, if true, is just another form of Appeasement.

France also has a history of bonding and sympathy for Russia which makes them a questionable defense partner in dealing with Putin and Company.

The "way out" for Putin is to relinquish his Stolen Ukrainian Territory and to go back to living within his own vast and entirely-ample borders.
