Hard to believe this entire conflict and the deteriorating 'reset' relationship 1st started because of Obama's ego and foreign policy miscalculation regarding Syria / President Assad.
Chemical weapons were used against the Syrian populace.
The 'rebels' (ISIS) claimed it was Assad's forces.
Assad claimed it was the rebels (ISIS) who obtained the weapons and used them, blaming him for them to draw western forces to their cause to help overthrow Assad.
- It was a good plan, seeing as how the US had been willing to step in and overthrow / help overthrow governments from Afghanistan to Iraq to Egypt to Libya...
The use of Chemical Weapons within the nation of Syria posed no threat to the United States.
The use of Chemical Weapons within the nation of Syria was not our problem to deal with - it was the kind of problem the U.N. was designed / created to handle.
Barry stepped up to the plate, however, against the recommendation f his advisors and delivered his 'Syrian Red Line' to President Assad: "NO MORE OR WE WILL TAKE ACTION!"
It was a bold move....if it would have worked Barry would have looked extremely strong and Presidential. The problem was it did NOT work. The problem was Barry was BLUFFING, and when he was called on it - when chemical weapons were used again - Barry was caught completely surprised. I don't think he though t anyone would defy the United States / HIS ultimatum...but Assad did...and he was not prepared to follow through with threat.
The whole world - our allies and enemies alike- watched the President of the United States BACK DOWN. To save face he declared this 'Red line' was not HIS 'Red Line' but was instead the WORLD'S....and the whole world laughed at him as they took a step back, shook their collective heads, and declared, 'Sorry, this is all on YOU, Barry!'
Barry became OBSESSED with this failure, OBSESSED with Libya, and OBSESSED with overthrowing Assad....so much so that he was willing to ally himself with terrorists who vowed to fight for / with him to help overthrow Assad. He financed them, armed them, trained them, protected their black market oil business (that funded 50% of ISIS' terrorist program, to include the attack on Paris). So blinded with his obsession with overthrowing Assad he did not see the 'rebels' (ISIS) were playing him - acquiring money, acquiring weapons, acquiring protection, were being allowed to expand. While Barry was focused on Assad he allowed ISIS' mile-long convoys to flow freely into Iraq to begin taking over much of the land our military had already liberated at great cost. Obama defended them, called them 'no threat' and 'a JV Team'...while they slaughtered butchered, beheaded, etc thousands of Iraqis.
Obama once again by-passed Congress and began waging his own personal, unauthorized war against Assad, determined to redeem his earlier 'Red Line' failure. Through both a proxy war in alliance with rebels and terrorists and direct US military air strikes Barry was determined to see Assad gone...until Russia built their air base inside Syria, sending a clear message to anyone and everyone - especially to Barry - that Syria was under Putin's protection and Assad was going no where.
Putin declared he was helping Assad fight off 'rebels' but also declared one of the main reasons why he was there was to 'join the 'coalition' in fighting ISIS'. Russia re-enforced Assad's troops and began striking Assad enemies...to include America's proxy warriors - the rebels we had been financing, arming, and training. Tis basically meant the United States and Russia were fighting a 'proxy' war against one another.
Russia's build-up on the Ukrainian border and move into Crimea was basically the exact move Hitler perpetrated at the start of WWII by moving his forces into the Rhineland (Buffer zone established at the end of WWI). Hitler wrote that he and his military were not ready for combat, that if any of the surrounding nations demanded he withdraw forces and moved to show they meant business he would withdraw. He further wrote than when those countries failed to do so and opted instead for appeasement he KNEW at that moment he could and would eventually conquer them all, that they were cowards who would not put up much of a resistance. Putin built up his forces on the Ukrainian border and no country dared issue a threat...so Putin had his army move right into Crimea, annexing the country. It is known by experts that once a grizzly / bear has killed a man, has had a taste of human flesh, he will seek it out again and must be put down. Is Crimea done 'expanding' now? No, the 'Bear' has tasted 'human flesh' and definitely craves more.
Putin stated in an interview several years ago the biggest regret in his life was watching the USSR dissolve, nations being allowed to walk away to become their own nation. He went on to say he seeks to remedy that. The comment did not raise any eyebrows...as it should have.
Syria has long been Russia's 'toadie', protected by them. Russia will do what it has to in order to protect Assad and keep him in power. Obama's ego will not let him pull out, keeps him waging his war in Syria. Why is it a big deal for Barry (or anyone else) NOT to call Islamic Extremists / Terrorists 'Islamic Extremists / Terrorists'? Because it is critical that before you wage a war you identify who you are fighting - know the enemy. Barry refuses to do that.
The United States is in the middle of an un-sanctioned personal Obama war, and he does not seem to know who the enemies in this war are. He 'made a deal with the devil' for help to overthrow Assad - he allied himself with TERRORISTS who promised they would help him overthrow Assad. These 'rebels' are NOT our 'ally' or our 'friend'. Assad is NOT our 'ally' or our 'friend'. Russia is neither our true 'ally' or 'friend'. Russia has bombed supply convoys from coalition partners headed for our 'friends' the 'rebels' who are fighting against Assad. Putin says, 'oops'. We are in the middle of a senseless unauthorized war where we are surrounded by and fighting alongside our enemies / terrorists...and FOR WHAT?!
Libs claimed Bush drug us off to war against a country and a dictator that did not matter, was not a threat, and we had no business being there. Welcome to Barry's personal unsanctioned war against a country and a dictator that does not matter to the United States, is not a threat to the United States (with the exception of thousands of ISIS-infiltrated 'refugee's' Barry and Hillary are brining into the country), and a nation / situation we have no business being in!
