Rep. Thomas Garrett (R-Va.) announced Monday that he is struggling with alcoholism and will abandon his run for a second term in Congress so he can focus on recovery and his family. Garrett, a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus, is the 44th Republican to retire or announce they will not seek reelection to the House this year.
Meanwhile in Pennsylvania -
U.S. Rep. Ryan Costello, a republican Pennsylvania congressman announced on Sunday that he would not be running, ending weeks of speculation about his future. "Whether it's (President Trump's rumored affair with porn start) Stormy Daniels, or passing an omnibus spending bill that the president threatens to veto after promising to sign, it's very difficult to move forward in a constructive way today," Costello explained.
As the number of GOP house members running for the exits approaches 50 with 5 months to go before the midterms, the Democrats won't need a great message in order to flip the house back to blue. Sorry Trump supporters, things just aren't going your way. It seems most Americans DON'T think America is great again.
