Firstly, it's not all that hard to do. Their are plenty of people who told him so. Actually all the people who were responsible for finding out the election was fraudulent told him so. Secondly I don't see how the defense can convey that belief without putting Trump on the stand and subject him to cross-examination. I don't think they would like to do that.
