Trump takes courageous stand against Animal Cruelty

Trump talked about this in the campaign and at the time I didn't know what he was talking about....awesome job Mr. President....

This should be a big issue in 2020, promises made, promises kept.

The electorate is going to have to make a decision whether or not they agree with the President or if they want to bring back the torture of puppies.

President Obama, as we well know, likes to eat dogs and has been every since he attended the Madrassa (aka Islamic Seminary) over in Jakarta.

All 50 states have felony animal cruelty laws.
Just more bullshit feel good nonsense.

This is why I have zero respect for Trumpers......he simply signed something that was put on his desk...period...

"The measure was introduced in the House by Ted Deutch, D-Fla., and Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., and pushed through the Senate by Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Patrick J. Toomey, R-Pa."

Glad Trumpers finally agree with groups like PETA and other animal rights activists....now if only they cared this much about human rights...

"Animal welfare activists said a federal law was necessary even though every state already has laws criminalizing animal cruelty"

Trump Signs Law Making Cruelty To Animals A Federal Crime

Under Obama, this was considered ok. B. Hussein O did nothing to prevent the torture of puppies and other atrocities.

But Trump said "no", America will no longer put up with the abuse of its animal residents. A lot of joy today in the nation's zoos, farms and forests.

Trump signs PACT Act, making animal cruelty a felony

Hey I am pleased that Trump signed this bill- good for him.

Hardly a 'courageous stand' though- signing a bill that passed both the House and the Congress with unanimous bipartisan support. There was no controversy here, nothing surprising by his signature.

Oh and Trump didn't propose this bill, didn't promote this bill, it was started in the Senate with bipartisan support and passed in the House.

Since this is the law passed by Congress, that Trump did nothing more than sign into law- sure why not tell voters that Democrats all just want to torture puppies.

Hardly the biggest lie made by Trump supporters even just today.

Gee trump supporters supporting a bill that doesnt do anything because states already have it covered.
Didnt have the same mindset when Obama did that, did they?
"What a wasteful law. States already got those laws"
Hacks

President Trump's historic pardon of two turkeys today really shows his love for the Animal Kingdom.

To pretend that Trump's advocacy and actual signing of tough laws against Puppy Torture is just some kind of "act" is bullshit IMhO

This is great. I fully support it. Now if he would do something about keeping kids in cages we might start getting somewhere .

President Trump shepherded this important legislation through Congress, forging a bipartisan coalition in spite of the best efforts of Chuck and Nancy. Something that Obama was unable to do.

Promises made, promises kept.

"historic pardon of two turkeys"?

Are you just trolling? So hard to tell whether a die hard Trumpkin really believes this crap, or is just another troll putting out stupid crap.

List of turkeys pardoned
Reagan Presidency[edit]
Clinton Presidency[edit]
  • 1999: "Harry the Turkey" is the first in the record of the formal pardon process to have been given an official name.[21]
  • 2000: "Jerry the Turkey", a 45-pounder (20 kg) from Barron, Wisconsin. The pardoned turkey (the eighth in Clinton's presidency) and its unnamed alternate were both sent to Kidwell Farm's petting zoo in Herndon, Virginia.[22]
George W. Bush Presidency[edit]
  • 2001: Liberty and his back-up Freedom, so named in the wake of 9/11 attacks. They weighed 48 and 52 pounds (22 and 24 kg), respectively.[23]
  • 2002: Katie, the first-ever female turkey pardoned. The 30-pound (14 kg) bird bred by Ron Prestage, chairman of the National Turkey Federation, as well as alternate bird Zack. The turkeys were named after Prestage's children.[24]
  • 2003: Stars and backup Stripes.[25]
  • 2004: Biscuits and backup Gravy.
  • 2005: Marshmallow and alternate bird Yam, raised in Henning, Minnesota. Beginning in 2005 pardoned birds were sent to Disneyland to live, and serve as the "honorary grand marshal" of that year's thanksgiving day parade, following concerns raised by animal rights groups that the birds had not survived for long. For the previous 15 years they had been sent to Frying Pan Farm Park near Herndon, Virginia.[26] Names were generally chosen in online votes taken at the White House website.
  • 2006: Flyer and alternate bird Fryer, raised in Missouri.[27]
  • 2007: 45-pound (20 kg) May and backup Flower, raised in Indiana.[28]
  • 2008: 45-pound backup "vice" turkey named Pumpkin, after the number one turkey Pecan fell ill the night before the ceremony. Both turkeys were allowed to live.[29][30]
Obama Presidency[edit]
  • 2009: Courage, a 45-pound turkey provided by the National Turkey Federation, and alternate bird Carolina, raised in North Carolina.[31]
  • 2010: Apple, a 45-pound turkey from Foster Farms in Modesto, California; and alternate bird Cider.[32] Both had died of natural causes by Thanksgiving 2011.[18]
  • 2011: A 45-pound turkey named Liberty and an alternate bird named Peace, both of which were raised in Willmar, Minnesota.[33] Peace survived until shortly before Thanksgiving 2012, when he was euthanized.[34] Liberty survived until being euthanized April 26, 2013 at the age of 2.[35]
  • 2012: Cobbler and Gobbler, both 40-pound (18 kg) turkeys from Rockingham County, Virginia.[36][37] Gobbler died suddenly in February 2013; Cobbler was euthanized on August 22 of that year.[5][35]
  • 2013: Popcorn, a 38-pound (17 kg) turkey from Badger, Minnesota. Popcorn won an online contest over its identically sized stablemate Caramel, which was also spared.[38] Popcorn died of heatstroke in summer 2014. Caramel survived much longer; it outlived one of the next year's turkeys and did not die until October 2015, spending most of its two years of life at Morven Park as the companion of a brown heritage turkey named Franklin.[39][40]
  • 2014: Cheese and alternate bird Mac, both of which were 48-pound (22 kg) turkeys from Fort Recovery, Ohio.[41][42] Mac died of suspected heatstroke in July 2015; Cheese remained alive as of November 2015, with the surviving Franklin as its companion.[40] Cheese was implied dead some time before November 2017, as the Morven Park Web site mentioned only housing the 2015 turkeys by that time.[43]
  • 2015: Abe, a 43 pounds (20 kg) turkey again presented by Foster Farms. The alternate was 42 pounds (19 kg) Honest.[44][45] Morven Park reported that both were still alive as of November 2016[46] and were still listed as alive on Morven Park's Web site in November 2017.[43]
  • 2016: Tater and Tot, 40-pound and 39½-pound (18 kg respectively) turkeys from Storm Lake, Iowa.[47][48] Both were reported as still alive and healthy but showing signs of old age as of November 2017.[49] The birds died some time before November 2018.
Trump Presidency[edit]
  • 2017: Drumstick, a 36-pound (16 kg) turkey,[50] who was chosen over alternate Wishbone, a 47-pound (21 kg) turkey;[51] both were from Alexandria, Minnesota.[49] There are conflicting reports regarding the fate of the turkeys: Fox News claimed both turkeys were still alive and living a "lavish life" as of November 2018,[52] while The Guardian claimed that both were dead.[53] CNN confirmed that both had died by November 2019.[54] Two pre-slaughtered turkeys from Orefield, Pennsylvania were also presented, with those turkeys being donated to Martha's Table.[55]
  • 2018: Peas, a 39-pound (18 kg) turkey with a height of 30", while Carrots, a 41-pound (19 kg) turkey with a height of 32", both from Huron, South Dakota were pardoned in 2018. Both were hatched on June 28, 2018.[52][56] Both Peas and Carrots were implied to be still alive as of November 2019.[54]
  • 2019: Bread, a 45-pound (20 kg) turkey with a height of 32"; and Butter, a 47-pound (21 kg) turkey with a height of 31", both from North Carolina.[57

Except of course.......for the facts.

Trump didn't forge any coalition. Trump did nothing but sign the bill.

If this is so 'historic' why did Trump wait so long to do it? Republicans controlled the entire Congress and the White House for 2 years- and now this bill is passed?

I really hope you are just trolling and not this entirely stupid.

Too many dogs and cats live luxury lives when people live poor life. Actually all the pet dogs and cats must be released in the forests and mountains. They are animals.

Actually abandoning pets into the wild is not only cruel to them, but devastating for wildlife.
