It's the president's job to tell the military what the objective is. The military tells the president how to achieve that objective. The president either agrees, rejects or modifies...Obabble mostly seems to talk...and modify if not outright reject.

Yeah it should work that way. The military are the professionals and they get tasked with an objective and then they figure out how to do it.
In real life that doesnt happen much. Especially with this administration,where Generalissimo Obama will be personally directing the air strikes.
