"Sen. Tom Cotton claims the United States is not jailing enough people as experts see an increase in crime paired with a drop in incarceration rates. Despite mounting bipartisan support for criminal justice reform measures, the Arkansas Republican argued the U.S. has an "under-incarceration problem -- "We have a major under-incarceration problem in America. And it's only getting worse," Cotton tweeted on Tuesday. Former President Donald Trump oversaw the enactment of the First Step Act, a bipartisan law that cut recidivism and urged reforms in federal prisons -- President Joe Biden also made criminal justice reform a key objective of the start of his administration. Across the decade from 2009 to 2019, the imprisonment rate fell 29% among black residents, 24% among Hispanic residents, and 12% among white residents, and in 2019, the imprisonment rate of black residents reached its lowest level since 1989."

One of the biggest mistakes Trump and a select few Republicans made was to join Democrats on this criminal justice/prison reform crap....because of it, we do not have enough people in prison like we once did. Yes, we still have the highest incarceration rate in the world; so that is still something to take solace in.....but if we don't get serious and get those incarceration numbers back up where they belong; countries like El Salvador, Turkmenistan and the Seychelles will pass us; which could spell disaster for our nation.

its OK as long as its the right people,,

what we have now and in the past is jailing people that think their body belongs to them and choose to do with it as they please,, that is the wrong reason to jail people,,

It's estimated that every adult breaks a federal law at least 3 times a day- why is it estimated? Because there are so many they can't be counted! So, every adult in the US is involved in criminal activity- gonna be hard to put that many people in jail- criminal activity is causing harm to another- people like Cotton need to be punished for causing others harm- making a crime of what might happen, what happened to or by someone else is thought policing- when another is harmed there is no guess work or thought policing necessary- the evidence speaks for itself-

It isn't the number of incarcerations that should be a concern or even a focus.

It is the type of incarceration and the lenient bitches on the bench who let the wrong kind out early, or at all.
Stories like this one here are the reason why I second what you say here.

God bless you always!!!

I think the real problem is that we are not using the death penalty enough.....incarceration does little good....we already have more people in jail than any other nation....even percentage wise.

If we really want to stop all the violent crime...and violent crimes should be our priority....we should start executing anyone that murders or committs excruciatingly horrible physical harm on some innocent person.

These executions should be televised.....actually it should be done in stadiums where people could buy tickets to watch....kinda like how rome benefitted from the gladiator games.

I am sure lots of people would buy a ticked to watch some black thug get fitted with a noose.

One question that I have is how often are charges being pressed still these days against those who should be put away? That right there may be another issue. Are people even getting arrested anymore because that right there has to happen first before anything else can.

God bless you always!!!

Society has not progressed it has gone backwards......no advanced civilization would let a minority group committ over half of all violent crimes.

The only way to stop that minority group from continuing to committ violence is to begin to execute them when they are caught.

The hangings should be held in a big sports statdium and tickets sold by the state the proceeds of which should be distributed to the thugs victims.

People are not scared of consequences any longer.

Think about it. Kids aren't spanked for doing bad things anymore. Students don't really fail a grade in school any more. People don't get punched in the face when they run their mouth. Violent criminals often see less jail time than white collar criminals and murderers don't have to sit in the electric chair.

If you advocated for any of that bullshit above, you helped create this problem.
